Flowers said there were trade offers for him last off season

ron mexico : 9/19/2019 9:32 am
This is burred in the Collins article but I thought it deserves it's own thread. Shocking on so many levels.

“I had actually been asking him [for clarity],” Flowers told NJ Advance Media “That was part of the reason why I didn’t go to [voluntary workouts in 2018]. I was looking for a fresh start. He had [trade] offers for me, and he didn’t want to take them. So he made me stay there, until finally I had a chance to go. I was mad about it, but it’s OK. I’m over it.”
He's delusional.
Britt in VA : 9/19/2019 9:32 am : link
If there were trade offers, we were going to have to GIVE UP picks just to get another team to take him.
He was cut when he failed again
jvm52106 : 9/19/2019 9:35 am : link
and the team that picked him, with a shitty oline themselves also let him go... Hmmmm
That’s bullshit
Jay on the Island : 9/19/2019 9:35 am : link
Are they really going to believe Flowers? It was reported that the Giants attempted to trade Flowers prior to last season but couldn’t find any takers.
Uh huh

7th rounders have virtually no value. With the state of offensive line play in this league I could certainly see a team offer that up to try and revitalize him on the interior with new coaching.
there might've been 'offers'
giants#1 : 9/19/2019 9:36 am : link
Teams offer conditional picks 1 year out for fringe players all the time. Is turning down a conditional 6th/7th round pick in the 2019 draft in order to give Flowers a chance to battle, really controversial? Especially considering the lack of depth and options available.
...
ryanmkeane : 9/19/2019 9:42 am : link
Haha. so our 9th overall pick, who was literally the worst bust maybe in the history of the franchise...is mad at the team?
Hey Ereck...

You aren't good enough to have an opinion on anything related to how you were handled. You are lucky to be getting a paycheck. Shut your mouth and go work on becoming a competent football player.
And how exactly would Flowers have known
Poktown Pete : 9/19/2019 9:44 am : link
about trade offers? Teams talked to his agent? Seems fishy, but what do I know.

“Placed on a thrown-together left side of the line with Donald Penn — signed in training camp because of Trent Williams’s holdout — Flowers has been solid. The analytics website Pro Football Focus gives him a grade of 61 on its 0 to 100 scale, which ranks 38th out of 70 players at the position. He has allowed quarterback Case Keenum to be pressured four times and has been penalized twice.

While that might not be a fantastic set of numbers for an offensive lineman, he has survived — an impressive feat at a position he only learned a few weeks ago — against two of the NFL’s better defensive lines in Philadelphia and Dallas.
“I wouldn’t jump the gun yet,” Flowers said Wednesday as he sat in his locker at the team’s practice facility. “It’s only been two games. I’m just trying to get better.”

So... he's mad that he was pencilled in as the starting RT for 2018
GiantsRage2007 : 9/19/2019 9:53 am : link
and payed so poorly that he lasted 3 games before being released...

Um.. ok dude.
"Trade offers"
BillT : 9/19/2019 9:54 am : link
If there were they couldn't have been very high ones and the Giants could have legitimately thought giving him one last chance was better for the team.

But DG decided against it when teams started asking for Giants 5th rounder to take Flowers off our hands...

Yeah, even if it was a 7th round swap, had they been offered anything of value, they would have taken it.

LOL. Not surprised that somehow this turns into a bash Gettleman take. Not only did it take a shitload of time to come out, but the Giants even said they were shopping Flowers before he was released - I'm assuming they'd take anything for him.

But yeah - believe the guy who did nothing here. I mean I guess he could be so lazy that it took him a year to finally release this info.
Yea there were offers...
Chris684 : 9/19/2019 10:17 am : link
but Gettleman didn't feel like attaching a 1st round pick to the deal in order to move him.

Man these ex Giants are really a bunch of crying windbags.

RollBlue : 9/19/2019 10:42 am : link
without agendas, so far Gettleman's time as Giants GM has been much worse than Flowers. Solder really didn't perform much better that Flowers, especially in the first have last year. It looks like Gettleman's first coaching hire is a disaster. However, let's see how Jones performs - if he got that right.......

Not true. If free agents have value, then certainly 7th rounders can have value.
Worse Than Flowers was

their 1974 draft pick, OG John Hicks, who was the third overall pick in that draft.

Solder performed much better than Flowers. Lol. Lots of shit takes on BBI this week!

is difficult to believe in two senses, namely that DG actually turned down an offer, and that one was even made.

Solder may not be a future Hall of Famer but to put him on equal grounds as Flowers is crazy talk...

NFLN the other night and Flowers didn't play badly. Playing guard seems to play to his strengths while eliminating some of his weaknesses.

That being said, he was a POS here and I haven't missed him for one second since he's been gone. Good riddance.
