Shurmur made the quarterback change

GeofromNJ : 9/19/2019 11:18 am
because he wants to win games. Fans and some in the media judge coaches by themselves. Their first priority is to keep their jobs, but this does not apply to coaches. Sure, coaches hate getting fired, but a coach, any coach of any sport, wants above all to win the next game - and the game after that. Shurmur thinks Jones gives the Giants a better opportunity to win the next game and that's why he made the switch. He could be wrong. But winning is his motive.
Whew

I thought it was Rosas who made the change. Thanks for clearing that up.

was to lose and have DJ play well.

Which is it?

Do we want to lose with DJ playing poorly so we get the 1st pick? And then pick a QB #1.
I thought Mike Francessa made the change

I have a policy of ignoring posts I find nonsensical

But, sometimes, sticking to that policy is remarkably challenging!
Crazy 2 coaches in a row

Wanted to move away from Eli because they felt the back up gave them a better chance to win.
Interesting

Its facts, and they're not the only coaches who share that opinion.

But back to Jones. I just read Shurmurs expression aand body languae when he talks about Jones and Saquon. He gets excited atleast by his standards. When talking about Eli, its more general and respectful
McAdoo fiasco probably made it easiet

conclusion that the whole group in management know they are playing for their jobs. Shurmur may see DJ working better in his offense. All those tipped passes last week did not help ELI"s case at all. Plus his mobility is not what Shurmur wants from his QB for his scheme. Jones is a very accurate short passer which will get SB more touches.
we have a coach

I agree with you but it’s amazing how many BBIers don’t understand that.
'because he wants to win games.'

Doubtful, rookie QB's rarely play consistent winning football in the short term. This move was made primarily with an eye to the future. Which is fine. DJ is the future at QB. I personally would have waited a few more weeks to try and stabilize the WR play to help him succeed.

With a record like Shurmur’s, you have to feel great about his direction....
Maybe he made it to piss off Mara
Jimmy Googs : 9/19/2019 9:54 pm : link
so he would get fired...
