just so people can say it's "German", and the poster would be like "yeah I know I said that in my post" ... Would be the best "Who's on First" joke I've seen on BBI in a long time.
I agree that we should assume its serious. Someone reached out to some authority in MLB or LE. Upon first investigation, there is an investigation.
Now, he could be targeted for blackmail or be with a chaotic person...so we should wait. But, it aint like someone called a hot line and got this result.
Remember, MLB is exposed to the Yankees, the players association and German, if they act without good evidence. So their lawyers felt they had the minimal liability to take action.
If its true, I doubt he has the stature to walk in this particular clubhouse next year. Not because they take a legal position but because he damaged an all in culture. Secondly, if its true and its the Yankees...Id make an example so every minor leaguer they have gets the message loud and clear. Sports stars are vulnerable when there is an incident...its going to get reported or reporters will find out. Its not like the old days ( meaning even 10 years ago. or five years ago pre MeToo and other consciousness raising.
So enough of that...too much speculation on my part already.
Now...lets forget best record in baseball. Lets get Severino, EE, Gary and Stanton back and sharp. That's more of a swing factor in a playoff series than HF.
Lets pray its not Oakland for the 3500 miles back and forth makes the next series very exhausting
Lets get Judge and Maybin time off ...they look like they are dragging.
Lets get Ottovino and Voit and Urshela sharp. Lets get Didi some rest.
Green and Kahnle and Otto are going to be huge swing factors for too many of our starters are not built beyond 4-5 innings
One last note, any Yankee minor leaguer that thinks the Yankees going forward are not going to care much about playing solid to good defense, was not watching this year.
This is not being built to be a team of free swinging or sloppy fielding guys or even guys prone to brain fart decisions at the plate or the base paths or the field. Yeah I know we have some guys who are sloppy...but many less and those who are have monster other contributions

I’m told the incident involving Domingo German and his girlfriend occurred late Monday night/Tuesday morning in a public setting - he allegedly slapped her during an argument. According to an MLB source, the incident was witnessed by an official from the Commissioner’s office.

can reduce their injuries and craziness by 50% next year from this record setting season, they might break the Mariners record for most wins in a season.
I used to think that was a no brainer, but I think they have priorities:
Getting Judge and Sanchez into team friendly long term deals is one use of funds.
Getting a great fielding SS they think they can uptick the hitting is another. I think the need for depth, defense and DJ like flexibility are lessons learned.
yeah I know Estrada and Wade...those are back ups, not starting difference makers at SS.
Now, Didi may sign a team friendly deal.
Its pretty obvious to me watching Stanton throw last night and Maybin and Tauchman getting AB and Gardner, that Frazier is not out there without an upgrade on defense. At least not for the Yankees.
I don't see Voit and Ford and Andjuar and EE fitting in easily.
One thing that would keep Didi is the fact that imo, not many minor leaguers or Frazier or Andujar build trade value this year...hurt it if anything. So I don't know what they trade with to get anyone able to crack into most positions
I think they will overpay within reason to keep Romine and trade Hishagawa?
me the "you're a Mets fan"... IF this story is accurate this looks very, very bad for the Yankees because they let him pitch knowing this "allegedly" occurred. I fully get wanting to win and the importance but this is not a good look for Boone and the Yankees. Obviously, if this turns out to be "false" then that's another story but given the accusations... it seems like it would be easy to substantiate.
how do you know Boone and the front office knew about it before today? Â

MLB's investigation into Domingo Germán centers on an incident that sources told The Athletic took place at his residence late Monday/early Tuesday. This incident was not witnessed by an official of Major League Baseball, the sources said.
I should have known better to trust anything from Bob Klapisch Â
unless he takes a really team friendly deal. I think Torres is better at SS than he is at 2B but SS is a tough position over 162 games. 2nd toughest after catcher IMO. NYY might want him at 2B for his bat. 1B still needs a real 1B but I think that's way down the list of priorities. They might like Estrada more than we do. Not sure. The Yankees are interesting 365 days a year. A lot more music than chairs in 2020 for the position players. I think this winter will be groundhog day. Try yet again to fix the starting pitching. For now the 2019 playoffs with whoever isn't hurt or suspended and that can change everything.

The union had the right to appeal MLB's decision to put Domingo Germán on administrative leave but declined to do so, sources told The Athletic.
Gerrit Cole is going to get a lotttttt of money... he has been a fucking strikeout machine this year. But that's a guy I'd be okay with spending big on for next year.
I'd hate to see Didi go, but if that's part of what would need to happen to lock up Cole, I'd do it.
I'd still rather beat Gerritt Cole than sign him Â
Zero opinion of the guy other than being a writer for a reputable source (Yahoo). Klap Trap is often wrong, if this guy has the story wrong he looks pretty bad

Per Yahoo's story: MLB didn’t release details about what led to the investigation, but sources told Yahoo Sports that German had a physical altercation with his girlfriend late Monday/early Tuesday at CC Sabathia’s LegaCCy Gala in New York City.
It feels like that's always the word on the Phillies... that they're prepared to spend wildly and unconsciously. I doubt they'll go so far above his market value that no one else can even make an offer but I guess we'll see.
For now, Cole is an Astro and will be one of the biggest obstacles the Yankees will likely face if they can advance to the ALCS.
Lindsay Adler is very reputable, i would trust her Â

Agree, I’d break the bank for him. Doubt Hal and Cashman do. We’ll get our standard meeting with him like we have with others. Show him the Yankee culture and then bid him farewell. We’ll then move on and sign some guy at a fraction of the cost and sell him as a big piece of the rotation and continue to bolster the pen as we do every season

That is the one unit that is holding this team back. Enough with the Sonny Gray's of the world. Fix this rotation already.
There's no question that Sonny Gray was an unmitigated disaster for the Yankees, but it's very difficult to identify guys like that who will end up struggling with the Yanks. For his career, Gray has a 3.30 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 pitching for the A's and Reds. He sucked with the Yankees because he couldn't handle NY, not because he's a bad pitcher.

Greg,
Just responding to what the writers are saying on twitter. That Boone acknowledged whispers and then I guess the PR staff ended the questioning.
@MazzYahoo
Boone said he couldn't say if Yanks knew before he pitched. PR cut the question off.
Btw, Im not sure they do much if they win. I just think they break some eggs risk wise to upgrade if German self destructed and they do not win

Me neither.
He's the missing piece, IMO. He's the one I'd overpay for ....$35M/year for 7 years.
And c'mon, he grew up a Yankee fan. Let's not hate him for wanting to go to college.
