German placed on administrative leave under joint domestic violence policy... not good.

Better news.. the Yankees can clinch the ALE with win #100 tonight - just as they could have last night. But, they did not, and TB won a late game against LA, so that was that.

Tampa is off tonight and the champagne is still on ice. So, let's take care of business this time.

Be silly to do it, too.
why even talk about taking Tanaka out with 75 pitches thrown?

but Meredith M. is really good at her job. Standing there firing off quality questions off the cuff while getting doused in champagne.

I'm sure her looks were a big part of why she was hired but she knows her stuff.
Yankees win!

a very solid game all around.

In order:

1 - get Judge back ASAP
2 - secure best record in the AL
3 - get German back before the playoffs
4 - get Encarnacion back before the playoffs

Something tells me we're not going to see German again this year...

Also, can't forget El Gary.

that Meredith has taken an often dumb job, had to follow Kim Jones and slowly has became a professional.

For comparison I think she asks much better questions and gets more respect than Suzyn who has been at it awhile.

Also treated with decent respect by Paulie and Cone which takes being a consistent worker who knows her job.

+1

Meredith's also a good follow in Instagram...posts neat pics of different cities they visit, snippets of good moments with player interviews, and very little of the 'look at me' vanity common to so many public figures these days.

I don't care for her and I still miss Kim.
Congrats to the Yanks-

Division winners going away. Remember that in April we did not see this coming, especially with all the injuries.

More work to be done but this is a very nice accomplishment. If Boonie isn’t MOY someone has some ‘splaining to do.
.
Bill2 : 9/19/2019 10:43 pm : link
I agree she is not Kim as a reporter. imo, Kim is a very good reporter. Her work with Mike Francessa also impressed me. This is a person with online real time intelligence.

Meredith has improved and become credible in a job that's often a joke filled by a gushing personality instead of a person trying to inform viewers
100 wins and counting and with the constant...
Crispino : 9/19/2019 11:59 pm : link
barrage of injuries all season long. “Next man up” all year long and they never missed a beat. Truly as amazing a regular season as I can ever remember.

Not sure the pitching is good enough to take us all the way, but what a ride it’s been to this point! Awesome.
Does winning 6 out of the last 8 win the league?
BH28 : 9/20/2019 12:18 am : link
Astros clearly have the easier schedule, 7 against the angels two against Seattle.

I think if the Yanks don't sweep Toronto @ home, that will kill their chance at home field throughout.
.
arcarsenal : 9/20/2019 7:49 am : link
Meredith is fantastic - I think she's become a lot better and more comfortable in her role these last couple years, too. She's very professional - not 'look at me!' - she knows her stuff and she always seems really well prepared.

Speaking of on-air people for NYY, I've said this before, but Jack Curry is excellent too. I never really intend on watching postgame shows, but I find that he usually keeps me tuned in for a while after the games. He's a really smart guy and also knows his stuff.

I doubt it because it would mean the Stros have to lose 4 of their last 9. We can't end up tied with them as they have the tie breaker based on head to head so we'd have to have a better record by a game. In effect we're two games behind the best record right now.
Yeah, they kinda
section125 : 9/20/2019 8:21 am : link
blew homefield in Detroit and that uninspired loss Wednesday.

Boy losing German is tough. German after CC looked like a winning combo. But that is/was a 4th option anyway after Paxton, Tanaka and Severino. Guess Happ will take his spot if the biceps is ok.
Homefield is important...
Dunedin81 : 9/20/2019 8:25 am : link
especially because they've won or tied just about every series at home since roughly May. But they've got to get people healthy, they've got to sort out the last 3-4 spots in the pen and the last spot or two on the bench, they've got to line up starting pitching, etc etc. And the Stros will do the same thing.

Yea I think the ship on having the best record in the AL may have sailed after this 9 game stretch vs the awful Tigers/Jays/Angels(no Trout) where we went 5-4. Can't blame them. Literally in the past 10 days alone we have lost Betances/EE/Gary/German and rested Judge like 3 games. What they have done this year is amazing. Finishing 2nd in the AL may be a blessing in disguise for the ALDS if Oakland gets through the play-in game because they are a nightmare to face for with the Stros or us. They give us both fits, not to mention the travel part. I'd much rather play Minnesota and their pitching. I agree that if anyone else besides Boone get MOTY its just disgusting naked anti-Yankee bias. I mean this team is gonna win 105 games or so while literally setting an MLB record for injuries!

filled in for Meredith a couple times last year. Compared to him, Meredith is Edward R. Murrow. Plus, her rack is simply mesmerizing.

The Twins manager(Brian Baldinger?) will be right there and will be deserving should he win. I agree that with all these injuries Boone should win it, but BBWAA is a strange group and may not look at all the injuries as such and point to the depth of the organization.
