NGT: Speaking of QBs, whatís going on with Rodgers?

exiled : 9/19/2019 5:08 pm
The Packers have won their first two games, but Aaron Rodgers isnít playing wellóQBR 36, putting him at 24th in the league. Coupled with a bad season (6 wins) last year.

Is there something up with him? An injury or something I donít know about? I always really liked watching him play.

New offense, probably taking some time to adjust.

He was also hurt almost all of last season.

Keep in mind the dude is 35 years old. he turns 36 this year. Sometimes I dont think some people realize/aware how much time has gone by since we were younger.

I didnít watch much football last season. Maybe heís an old 35 because of the injuries. I hope not. Iíd like to see him return to form.
Rodgers vs McCarthy
81_Great_Dane : 9/19/2019 5:41 pm : link
had a lot of Packer fans taking Rodgers' side. But Rodgers is kind of a diva, and a blamer, and some have picked up on that. Now he got his new HC and if it doesn't work out, it reflects badly on him.

Rodgers can definitely suck it. He was our best hope to make the eagles lose in 2017 but he had to go on and get hurt again. I will always hold him accountable for that miserable Philly run, that and the overrated - pathetic Vikings defense of 2017.

For an extended period of time he was playing QB well enough to be in the conversation for GOAT. But he hasn't got a bunch of rings, and it's beginning to look like his career is going to carry a whiff of disappointment when it's all said and done. But y'know, he could have a late-career run like Elway and it could look entirely different.

Yeah, that matters. That's like saying your car is better than mine because you have more miles.

Try some significant numbers. Like 341 TDs to 80 INTs. A 4.26 TD/INT ratio. A career 70+ QBR. Career leader in passer rating of 103.

He's, like, a season and a half away from 50,000. And only nine QBs have ever done it in NFL history. Fouts, Montana, and Unitas didn't come close.

Why are you so hung up on 50,000 passing yards?

There is no guarantee that he'll stay healthy enough. While he has gimped around on a bum knee, he also has a collarbone made of glass and a history of concussions. 7K yards isn't a gimme for his playing style. But go ahead and cast his bust.

He did lose about 10k yards (conservatively) to the bench when he waited three seasons behind Favre. I don't think it's fair to throw his counting stats out there without at least acknowledging that context.

I'm not equivocating the two players and their resume. Just pointing out that he is overrated among fans. I'm not saying he isn't a good player. But before firing up the forge to cast his bronze, perhaps people should wait for him to accomplish a few more benchmarks? Or not.

I'm not going to go back and forth with his White Knights as they defend Rodgers. My mind is made up. He is a good player. A great player would have accomplished more. I'll wait until he does.

Recall you took this silly position against Rodgers a month ago or so and were basically laughed off the thread. And itís obvious it has more to do with your trying to prop up Eli as you display your lack of objectivity.

Rodgers is plain and simple a great QB in almost every facet of his game.

Why go at this again?

50,000 yards is strange benchmark for the HoF
Banks : 9/19/2019 7:33 pm : link
Vinny Testaverde is close to that and he played when racking up yards was much, much tougher. I view the HoF'ers as guys who over a period of time were considered among the best. I think you can easily say over the past 10+ years Rodgers falls into that category

Statistically speaking since 2008 he's:
TDs: 2
TD %: 1
int%: 1
rating: 1
wins: 5
yards: 7
yard/game: 9
Yard/attempt: 4

Yearly he's near the top in positive stats and the bottom of the negative ones.
Anyhow, ignoring stats, I don't know how you watch this guy and not see how special he is
