what were the knocks on minshew this draft? size? arm strength?

the guy balled out with the opportunity he got at WSU, from my understanding the starter got hurt.

proof the predraft process/scouting is bullshit

not proof it is all bunk.. but there is a limit to what you can say projecting many of these guys into the NFL.

Minshew is a guy that his ceiling is decent.

Teams don't like drafting guys like that high, honestly looks like the same QB that he did at Wizzou.
I have no idea why anyone
MetsAreBack : 9/19/2019 10:16 pm : link
Let alone paid analytics people - think Mariota is a starting qb.

Choose between Josh Hill and Mariota - similar athletes - give me Hill with his experience under Brees and coaching.

I thought Tennessee was Eli’s most logical destination this past offseason and they went tannehill instead .... I’d go tannehill over Mariota too but you’re not winning with either which is sort of sad because they have talent.

The exception doesn't prove the rule is a phrase that applies here. Minshew is a great story. Don't act as though a 6th rounder stepping into success game one of his rookie season is in any way dispositive towards success factors for a top 10 QB pick. Please.

bw in dc : 9/19/2019 10:51 pm : link
the NFL's credibility.

It's a short week because of this hideous Thursday idea. Players are going to be fatigued and not as sharp, right?

So in the first half, the NFL makes the product even more unwatchable by throwing 15 flags. Obviously asinine.

The second half starts. But low and behold there are NO penalties in the third quarter? You mean to tell me all that was needed to clean up the play was a 20 minute break halftime break? Just guzzle down a few Gatorades and eat a MetRx bar and - poof! - the chance of penalties suddenly goes away??

Sorry, I'm not buying it. I think the NFL FO made a call to the ref's locker room and had a quick talk to change a few things...

Good for JAX to keep playing, move the ball and get a FG out of it. Going conservative would have been the choice of many bad coaches.

down 2 scores w/ 3 min so you run w/ DLewis

then CDavis fights for 2-3 extra yds vs going OB

He has been dominating period. He may not have sacks until this game, but the guy has been bringing the pressure! Plus he had 2 sacks this game. Daniel Jones better be the real deal or this Org screwed up again bad.. Passing on Jones is still bothering me..
Josh Allen should have been a Giant
Rjanyg : 9/20/2019 7:16 am : link
DG needed to find a way to get Allen and Jones. He found a way to get Jones, Lawrence and Baker so I don’t think it’s out of the question to expect a GM to make moves in the first round.

I wouldn't read too much into the Tannehill trade. Mariota was going to be the starter with his $21M 5th year option fully guaranteed. With Mariota's past history, they still needed a competent backup. Both are FAs after this season. In order to make the trade, Miami had to give Tannehill a new contract and eat it on the same day. Miami ate $18M just to trade him to Tenn.

Tru. and this Jax team looks like ti is coming together nicely.. That D looks fearsome. The OL is starting to get healthy. Fournette is starting to run with bad intentions again too. Mink is the man at QB - I cant believe Foles will lose another starting job to injury but that is where this will be headed. Coughlin building it up now. Josh Allen was a really nice add. Ramsey needs to get with the program otherwise hes going to leave a potential juggernaught. The QB looks like the real deal to my eyes. Coughlin loved him after meeting him.

They could have had Josh Allen. But they didn't want to lose out on not being able to grab Jones. I don't blame them. And he did make moves in the first round. He moved back into the first to grab Baker.
JAX still has some brain-fart moments in their secondary
Jimmy Googs : 9/20/2019 9:00 am : link
but that pass rush can make up for a lot of faults.

And if balls start getting knocked out from their hits on the QB then they really can help their Offense.

Calais Campbell had one hell of a night...

You have to temper the results of the DL with the 9 sacks. Some are attributed to bad OL. Calais is in Mariota's face before the ball reaches him in the shotgun. Others are a result of coverage sacks. Ramsey is a bad man. Take him away and QBs have a man to throw to. Often Marcus didn't even look Jalen's way.

M.S. : 9/20/2019 9:24 am : link

Does he realize after four full years in the NFL that you can't hold onto the ball forever?

After last night's sack-fest, I'd either trade him or cut him and put in Tannehill.
