October right around the corner. Starting to get a little bit chillier out. Just picked up some Southern Imperial Pumking beer. 4 pack runs me about $16 bucks.
Amazing 18% beer that was a a little too sweeet but shockingly drinkable.
Honestly though I has had so many different beers and different styles and I have never found one better than Smuttynose IPA. I pretty much gave up on trying new things unless forced. It's the best beer on the planet and there isn't even a close 2nd.
I'm visiting cousin up in Maine this weekend. I'm looking forward to having a couple of Maine Beer Company's Lunch. Just a delish IPA. Also, Stoneface IPA. Stick that into my veins baby.
beers, they taste like spice flavor to me, I don't mind a subtle pumpkin like Shipyard, but I won't seek them out - and don't put sugar on the rim of the glass, I hate that texture.
I do like the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale - so technically this is a fall beer, and it usually sells out before winter - comes out in October I think.
Oktoberfests are good. Sam & Great Lakes both make a good one. Lancaster Brewery also makes a good one but I am a bit far from the area and is hard to get.
Pumpkin not a huge fan of...most are misses. I do enjoy the Riverhorse Pumpkin Stout (Hipp-o-Lantern). They are out of Ewing NJ.
Troegs in Hershey PA makes a great Double Block called the Troegenator. Its execellent from the brewery and pretty darn good in the bottle. Sam Adams used to make a Double Bock but no more. Its a heavier beer great for late fall early winter.
Yuengling Oktoberfest is my favorite, I like Sam a lot too, but I prefer the Yuengling, and it is about half the price. It doesn't last on the shelves too long, so if you see it I recommend dropping the $5, and giving it a try.
I'm also not a fan of Pumpkin beers, with the exception of Pumple Drumpkin, from Cisco Brewing. I don't see it that often, but will always grab it. It's brewed with pumpkin, and just a hint of pumpkin spice, not a beer blown up with just (too much) pumpkin spice.
But I always keep my eye out to see if anyone puts Southern Tier Warlock on a nitrous tap. Then I can get a pour of a Warlock-Pumking Half and Half.
Other than that I look for Brown Ales. Brooklyn Brown still one of my all time favorite beers.
I've shifted back towards Coors/Bud Light from the heavier craft brews, but I would avoid the Pumpkin/Octoberfest beers until the first or second week in September, so I wouldn't get tired of them too quickly.

Maine Lunch is fantastic. Hopefully you'll be able to try Dinner, I've never had a chance but heard great things.
Several mentions about Sam Adam's Oktoberfest already. My favorite is Guinness Extra Stout. Nice heavy beer with hops flavor for those cool Fall days...
by the time it's time to enjoy a fall beer, the winter brews are out. It's hard drinking a Sam Adams Oktoberfest or Shipyard Pumpkinhead when it's 110 degrees out.
I did buy a 6er of the Shipyard for when it cools a bit and will probably pick up the Octoberfest tonight but won;t drink it until end of October/November
I'm drinking those right now, and they're quite good. Kind of grew on me as I drank the first bottle. It didn't really hit my palette on the first sip.

Same here - perfect summation.
Picking up 2 sets of Kane's Anniversary releases today Â

I agree!!

It may be the only seasonal beer I like

Any stout really. But I'll drink a stout during a heatwave so there you go.
Celebration is the best! But it is a holiday beer - snow is on the label. And you best buy it in November because it sells out fast.

stouts arent really heavy beers, incorrect perception because of their color

Yeah but I wouldn't exactly call something that tastes like a chocolate milkshake and has 10% ABV "light beer."

To me an Oktoberfest should be nice and malty, distinctively so, and not bitter.

I have to look for this, I do like the Voodoo Ranger IPA.

Love me some Icarus Yacht Juice and Milking It year round. Still have Yacht on tap at the house.
