NFT: Rangers fans - DeAngelo signs

Looks more and more like Smith is going to Hartford now. I hope this kid's maturity issues aren't an issue this year and he continues to grow the way he did last year. He signed the same 1 year, $925k deal Lemieux signed last week.

The New York Rangers announced today that the team has reduced its Training Camp roster by four players, as Brandon Crawley, Jake Elmer, Vincent LoVerde, and Darren Raddysh have all been assigned to Training Camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Believe he 'deserves' more.
I'm generally all about players

getting as much money as they can but he really had ZERO leverage. I don't see him as a longterm fit on this team anymore now that they have Trouba and Fox. I can see him sticking this season and if his expected extension next summer is out of line for our cap situation we'll trade him.
He had no leverage

and Trouba and Fox more likely to be kept longterm in front of him. He's got to play his way into more.

Good news, as we don't have a RH defenseman to replace

him with. He played decently last year too, and is likely the point man on the 2nd power play unit.
Rangers cap in good shape after this year

9 million coming off after this year with Fast, Strome and Namestnikov

18 million the next year with Henrik, Staal, Smith

It’s just that this yeAr is a bottleneck because of Gortons poor decision to sign Spooner and Namestnikov to two year contracts. Why would you do that during a rebuild? Very poor planning

But the bottom line is that the cap is in good shape after this year, which gives them leverage with Kreider, who has yet to earn a ufa contract imo

Cap is not in good shape next year unless the plan is to replace Kreider with a rookie. I’m guessing they’ll do another stupid buyout but time will tell
