German officially ruled out for the remainder of the year.

The Yanks are officially ALE Champs. Now it's a race for home field, but more importantly, time to heal up.

Anyone want to start a pool for which inning Grichuk hits his obligatory HR?

Go Yanks.
i'm so diappointed in German

and, frankly, the Yankees for not pressing the issue before MLB had to.

Be like Jeter. GIFTBASKETS until you are retired.

I guess we have to start off the thread with a stupid comment. How did the Yankees not press the issue especially since we, the general public don't know the details of what happened ? Compared to what happened on other teams and in other sports, I'd say the Yankees behavior has been exemplary . The Yankees have made it clear that German is done for the year. He's probably done as a Yankee, but they can't say that pending whatever MLB does.

You're right. Your comment is stupid.

I'm making an assumption that the Yankees were aware of the incident before the MLB office. At some point it would be nice if an MLB franchise would rush to hold their players to account for incidents like this.

Why would he be done as a Yankee?

Why would you make that assumption ? Are you clairvoyant ? Do you think Boone is ? We don't know what happened. What makes you think the Yankees did before the suspension ? What we do know is that he was promptly suspended and a day later the Yankees announced that he was done for the year. Actually they announced at the time of the suspension when they added Michael King to the roster.
RP sorry you are wrong here
Stu11 : 9/20/2019 6:50 pm : link
The incident in question happened either Monday or Tuesday and he was gone by Thursday. You have player's Union issues as well as the MLB office processing. This thing was handled a hell of a lot quicker than any other incident I've ever remembered.
it's a sensitive issue for me - i'll just drop it
RasputinPrime : 9/20/2019 7:32 pm : link
Frazier is all kinds of fugly out in RF. That was not a triple by Hernandez.

It’s probably a sensitive issue for most of us but that doesn’t mean you need to insinuate the Yankees knew something and turned a blind eye. That’s quite an accusation whether you came out and said it directly or not.

It is indeed.

Time to wack Waguespack.
Another day....

.....another lousy pitcher shutting down the Yanks
perfectly played by Frazier
RasputinPrime : 9/20/2019 7:56 pm : link
I thought he had him with throw. Very close.
I apologize for popping off
Ron from Ninerland : 9/20/2019 7:57 pm : link
Its an upsetting issue for me too. I hope I wake up tomorrow morning and read that it was all a big misunderstanding, but based on what we know that's increasingly doubtful.

A man who I admired as a pitcher and looked forward to following for years is probably done as a Yankee and may turn out to be a monster. If that's the case, the blame needs to be on him and only him. Not Boone, not Cashman and not any other Yankee.

Torres is down and it doesn't look good.

Dear lord this season.
Torres
Percy : 9/20/2019 8:03 pm : link
Worrisome there for a sec.
he is staying in the game
RasputinPrime : 9/20/2019 8:04 pm : link
but i'm going to be ready for him to need time off with something getting pulled. I hope his being 22 makes him rubberier.

1-0 on Biggio coming around to score.
Gleyber remove from game
RasputinPrime : 9/20/2019 9:09 pm : link
i'm sure it has nothing to do with his awkward fall earlier...
What the shit
GruningsOnTheHill : 9/20/2019 9:22 pm : link
I run into the kitchen for 2 minutes to make a spot of tea, and now they’re losing 4-3?
Dammit

Yankees' Gleyber Torres (knee) exits Friday's game against the Blue jays.

This is fucking ridiculous

Joe West should be fired for that strike call on Gardner

That’s how bad it was.
JOE WEST?????????
GiantsUA : 9/20/2019 10:22 pm : link
Glad the Yanks don't have to face the Jays in the post season.
Good Lord. Joe West is hot garbage...
LarmerTJR : 9/20/2019 10:22 pm : link
Holy fuck.
Kahnle seems to be struggling as of late.

Seriously. That ball was over the damned RH batters box.
West or not
RasputinPrime : 9/20/2019 11:47 pm : link
why can't we beat these friggin bums?

madness.
When was the last time the Yanks...
M.S. : 9/21/2019 4:04 am : link

...won the first game of a series this season?

Oh, well.

All roads lead through Houston and their 3 buzz saw starting pitchers.
You wonder
Carson53 : 9/21/2019 9:45 am : link
if attrition is catching up to this team, I think they can forget about homefield advantage. Try to get their healthy
bodies back like EE, and El Gary for the postseason now.
And RP, you were off base on the German handling by the
Yanks in this case. I don't think anyone condones DV,
lets just let the facts play out here okay.
Not so fun fact
Carson53 : 9/21/2019 9:48 am : link
Yanks are only 9-8 against Jays this year, and have blown
6 saves as well...to me, therein lies not getting homefield
I agree Carson
Bill2 : 9/21/2019 10:22 am : link
Unless my mind is playing tricks with confirmation bias, once I recently thought I saw attrition and fatigue amongst the players, I started to see more of it.

too many players out such that sparks have to come from a smaller and smaller cadre of uninjured hot hitters.

Honestly, the list of guys now playing at their season average play or better includes Gardner,Urshela, DJ, Britton, Chapman, Romine and Paxton. I cant tell when I watch Torres. Maybin and Judge are visibly shaking off aches and pains too many times to claim they are fine. Voit its hard to tell for he can go from an easy out for pitchers who know how to pitch to him to hitting it hard but at someone ( To me, he has been a bit unlucky lately). Didi is not close to his better in prior seasons. Frazier is just not playing offense or defense with an extra gear. Otto is clearly in a funk.

and EE, Stanton and Gary are a lot of firepower that not firing right now.

Betances is a non factor that could have been a big contributor

And Sevy might be better as he gets longer off setting a innings limited and imploding German.

Happ is Happ and CC is wearing out ( and much as we wish otherwise at the end of his career).

So overall, I don't see the team going into the playoffs with more swagger and confidence than question marks.

But ten games can be enough of season left to both get rest for some and get reps for others
