10 games left. Season winding down. Still only 3.5 out. As unlikely as it is, crazier things have happened. Im really enjoying seeing this lineup finally together and the SP every night if for nothing else. This is the team we should have had all year. Anybody that cant see how much Nimmo has added since he's been back is blind IMO. In any event, deGrom looking to cement his Cy Young case tonight. Luis Castillo is no joke and believe the Reds will be a colossal pain in the ass this weekend. Let the chips fall where they may. LFGM!
That’s one hell of s botTom of the lineup
But whatever happens, it’s not bad still being excited about a Mets game on Sept 20

They have to do better than 7-3 to give themselves a chance, which is winning all 3 series. Ideally they sweep the Marlins and then win the other 2 series.
St. Louis just beat the Cubs 2-1 and Milwaukee plays Pitt tonight. Need the bucs to put up a good fight.
I could see the Nats going 4-6 or something like that and that could make things very interesting....
Brewers are going to be the toughest to stop because their schedule is cake. Cubs play the Cardinals again.
Problem is although the Reds and Marlins look like the "Easy" games it won't go that way. I could see the Reds and Marlins both winning a game. So do we go into the Atlanta series needing a sweep? Maybe.
Matz' whole second has been really good, but swapping them is a rare smart move for the Mickey Mets that analytics suggest is a good one.
2-1 against the Marlins
2-3 against the Phillies
0-3 against the Indians.
Makes them 4-7.
Seams somewhat believable and I doubt the Phillies winning 3 games against them is enough to be significant unless they were also winning out or something....
I'd rather see them hire Girardi but the Mets seem to be on his way to a record that saves Callaway's job.

I don't think so and here's why. Its very rare that a new GM comes in and doesn't put his own people in place. Callaway is a carry over. BVW isn't here to be a GM forever. He's here to come in and make a splash and win immediately. I think if we miss the playoffs that will be all he needs. He isnt going to go down without his own staff in place IMO.
I give the team credit for their push...but Mickey/Diaz torched this season for the Mets. It’s a shame, too. There’s no reason that this team shouldn’t be leading the WC race at minimum. Enjoy the rest of the season, boys.

I agree with you. Its not likely. Just so frustrating.. because on top of the pen and Mickey... there's also been SO many heartbreakers. Its unbelievable how crushing some of these most recent losses have been. Just flip one or two of those games and we are literally leading the WC right now.. Just amazing really...

Thanks, missed that.
and the Pirates are the worst time I've seen in a long time.
That was Brody's best off-season move.
I never expected this season from Alonso, and I was wrong, no shame in admitting it, but I'm surprised you still don't understand it, it had zero to do with whether Alonso was ready or not. It was a business decision.
Kris Bryant was left down, Vlad Jr was left down the two weeks, many players are, because it's a smart business decision.

Cant believe people still think we should have kept him down in the minors. Guy has been amazing....

lol. I understood it then and I understand it now. I was one of the posters on the fence about it. But you can't tell me for one second that in retrospect it wasn't the right move TODAY. He hit the second he came up. He's hit all year. And every game is coming down to the wire proving that every single game, with this exact team, counted.
Ive said this before, but if we were 30 games out, you can make a case Alonso wasn't needed. If we were 30 games ahead, you can make a case Alonso wasn't needed... But we are literally going down to the last week fighting for every game... Whether we make the playoffs or not... Alonso was in fact needed.
Also, its just horrid optics. The guy was clearly ready. He's also the new face of the franchise. If the Mets don't pony up to give Alonso a second contract that's on them... You give this guy a second contract either way. This isn't a situation where you might be on the fence and try to squeak out an extra year of control. This is a guy you back up the Brinks for.

Of course in retrospect it was the right move but we have the benefit of knowing now what we didn't then.
if they sent him down for two weeks I would have thought it was the right move.
I'm not sure how needed he was those 10 games, Dom Smith started off well too, but regardless starting him in Queens was the right move.
But that's not one of the decisions I'd say "I can't believe some people felt he should have started in Syracuse" because if he did (at the time) I would have been fine with it.
either way, glad he's a Met, I'm glad how this season turned out and I hope he has a few more HR's in him this year.
BVW wanted to signal that this team is about winning and not about saving dollars six years from now.
Plus, I do not think he is planning to stay as GM for 6+ years, so what does he care?
sure, it's the right baseball move, but the Reds are eliminated.
Luckily the offense has completely bailed him out.
