CFB Saturday

Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 11:32 am
In addition to the the ND Georgia game that has its own thread, I'll be watching the early Wisconsin Michigan matchup.

Little nervous about our very young, which is missing 2 starters.

Likely Badger draft picks to keep an eye on:

RB Taylor
OC Biadasz
OLB Baun
ILB Orr

The first two positions are well known Badger strength, but quietly UW is producing NFL Lbs, especially since switching to a 3-4
Biadasz would be pretty awesome on the Giants.

has maintained a stellar Oline and backfield my entire lifetime.

I was hoping to see different today.

Wisconsin's kicking game (except for KOs) has been putrid.

Of course, I'm hoping for LOTs of KOs :)

Taylor 51 yards and TD in first series.
Keep an eye On Baun
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 12:20 pm : link
For us. Fast, smart former QB - typical Wisconsin product : built up and coached up.
Harbaugh
KDubbs : 9/21/2019 12:30 pm : link
Bye bye you terrible coach
Obviously hoping for a Badger win
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/21/2019 12:37 pm : link
imo, they should beat Michigan, they haven't looked like Michigan of old, especially on the OL and DL. Plus I dont believe in UM's QB. Coan is still unproven as well and I think many fans are eager to see Mertz begin his season at some point.
Much just got hosed....if you are Wisconsin why even bothet

I think Michigan stinks and is way overrated
Apparently it's cramps
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 1:15 pm : link
With Taylor. Hope that's all.
Harbaugh on the hot seat this year?

Why does Harbaugh
Rflairr : 9/21/2019 1:21 pm : link
stick with Patterson?

When ohio st beats them by 40 at the big house, Harbaugh will be fired the next week.
Why is Harbaugh still at Michigan?
Mike from Ohio : 9/21/2019 1:25 pm : link
I can’t remember the last time Michigan beat a good team. They have given him a really long leash to maintain mediocrity.

They barely survived Army and looked like shit against mid Tennessee or whoever too. I wouldn’t say they’re overrated - I suppose they’re ranked 11 but you know voters rarely reduce rank until a team actually loses

They gave him a 7 year guaranteed contract... hence the long leash

Is beating the breaks off Michigan!!
Maybe Michigan is overrated
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 1:39 pm : link
But let's give the Badgers some credit!
If you're Michigan
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/21/2019 1:39 pm : link
you have to put in Mcaffrey for the 2nd half.
Michigan will be lucky
LawrenceTaylor56 : 9/21/2019 1:53 pm : link
To go 8-4 this year.
How many
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 1:56 pm : link
5 and 4 star recruits does Michigan have?

Wisconsin?
I don't follow Michigan, but why is Harbaugh
widmerseyebrow : 9/21/2019 1:59 pm : link
so stuck on Patterson? Does he not have anyone in the QB pipeline? I see McCaffrey is a junior.
MCAFFERY

inequity

Anyone else find most CFB games to be in contrast to what building values through competitive sports is supposed to be all about? Watching some powerhouse beat up on the Central Podunk Ag and Tech's of the nation is not exciting, nor is it even admirable. Why are big schools schools finding honor in beating up under-qualified, under-funded opponents? Worse than that, most CFB teams play like three games a year now where a loss is even possible.

I have had similar thoughts. How often is Indiana or Minnesota a contender in football. How often is Vanderbilt competitive in football? And that's leaving aside the teams that are clearly overmatched that pick up a fat check by getting beaten up by an Alabama or LSU. This system doesn't make sense to me.

Small schools will continue to get beaten up and embarrassed by powerhouses because that his how they fund their athletic departments.
Small schools

receive a good amount of money to play the big programs. They actually like it because it helps with exposure for recruiting. Coach of a lesser program can say hey we are playing Alabama on TV. I see the negative reaction though.

Some lopsided scores for the early games. What the heck has happened to Tennessee? They were a powerhouse for so long.
Jamar Chase of LSU with 10 catches for 229 yards

And 4 touchdowns today.
Just got back from Camp Randal
redbeard : 9/21/2019 4:45 pm : link
That was a total beatdown by Wisconsin. Honestly shouldn’t even have been as close as 35-14...the UW defense went vanilla at the end of the third

Also between JT, that o-line and the defense UW looks pretty freakin tough
I'm jealous, redbeard
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 5:36 pm : link
looks like that targeting call on Burrell was questionable. Some of the safeties playing I never heard of LOL

Would love to see Baun a Giant.

Have family in the media or something. Never seen the media fawn over such mediocre QB play. A star is being born every week.

That rb from Wisconsin is the next elite NFL RB. Vision, power, speed

Guy has it all. I really loved his Gameday interview, sounds very good at self diagnosis, a rare trait, and a good sign he'll get better.
He is the total package now that
Jay in Toronto : 9/21/2019 8:09 pm : link

Great Young man and leader. Reminds me of Barkley.

When I was listening to his interview I thought the same thing than I saw him play, poor man's saquon Barkley, which of course nothing to sneeze at.

14 total tackles
7.5 TFL
7 sacks
2 forced fumbles
1 pass deflection
1 blocked field goal
14 QB pressures

Great to have Cephus back and they actually have depth at WR.
