Daniel Jones and Eli Manning's first game-winning TD's

Canton : 9/24/2019 3:39 pm

Eli completed his first comeback, in his second season against the Broncos, on October 23rd 2005, after falling behind 23-10. The Giants won 24-23.

DJ does it in his first game after falling behind the Bucs 28-10, by halftime. Erasing an 18 point deficit in dramatic fashion, as well.

Now most would say, we saw something special in Eli, with that glorious comeback in his young career. Some felt that was the moment they knew he was our franchise QB.

Can we say the same for Jones after his first game as a rookie? Speaking for myself, I say absolutely yes, I see something in Daniel just as special, if not more so, then I did from my third row seat, way back when..
Wayyyyy too early...

But F it. I've completely bought in. First really exciting development-Saquon aside-we've had in awhile.
Full bloom love

for me!
We keep saying it's too early or it's one game but

DJ has been playing confident and consistent since August. I think we are all pretty sure he's for real.
Fans are allowed to be irrationally excited for a player

It's not like we're running the team and making any long term decisions here.

As for me, I saw what I saw, and DJ looks like the goods to me. Potential to be a top 5 QB in the league in the very near future.

Is that guaranteed to happen? No, but it's not crazy to think it could based on the skillset he's shown in both Tampa and the preseason.
What I like about Dan
Gettledogman : 9/24/2019 4:17 pm : link
He is a fighter. Go back and watch the tape of the Bucs D taking liberties. He gave it right back. One example was Shack on top given a little business and Dan gave it right back as he got up.
One of the big rubs on Eli (from some quarters)
Beezer : 9/24/2019 4:21 pm : link
was always that he wasn't effusive enough. Not enough fire out there.

Early returns on Jones said he's measured, cerebral ... like Eli.

Then I hear and read that he dropped a few "motherfucker" this and that in the huddle at Tampa.

Made me smile a bit.
When did we know OBJ and Saquon were superstars?
jsuds : 9/24/2019 4:24 pm : link
I know it's a QB but he beat a solid defense with gutsy and headsy play.

Looks like we may have the next Aaron Rodgers but more humble.
it must feel really weird for Jones to be on a team
markky : 9/24/2019 4:29 pm : link
that is at least in the same ball park talent wise as the competition. That wasn't the case at Duke.

Peyton Manning with wheels. I see Peyton when I see Jones throw the ball.
Uh, Eli's first comeback win was his first victory ever

Last game of the year against the cowboys in 2004.

Game winning play was similar where Eli checked to a draw because the defense was split wide and Tiki scored the game winning touchdown.

Spot on.

In that game, the Giants were down by 3 and out of TOs at the end of the 4th. The ball was on the 2 or 3 yard line and there was time for just 2 plays, an assumed pass play into the end zone and than a second one as time ran out. Eli came to the line and saw that the Cowboys were defending the pass to the max. So should he do the perfectly defended pass play and hope and get another shot? Or does check out of the pass play and call Tiki's numbers and try to win it? The safe and smart money is on trying the pass play and come back if that doesn't work. Wrong. Eli took the gutsy chance, check out and called the running play on a do-or-die play. Tiki scored! It was then and there that I knew Eli was something special.

Really you thought that after that game vs a terrible cowboys team. You do know that eli was considered a huge disappointment up until game 16 of 2007 season vs Pats. That was almost 3 years after that last 2004 cowboys game

Yup. Ballsy call by him. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Barber broke Joe Morris’ record of most rushing yards in a season in that game I believe
its too early

To say Jones is going to be good or bad. The bucks basically gave that game away. Lets have this conversation after 15 games, Not one.
