If Tate performs at his career average, he's going to disappoint those who think he's a very good player. He's a very consistent player, who's needed a lot of targets and touches to put up his numbers.

He's been a very good player in really just one season in his career, and that was several years ago.

He's not a bad player, he's a consistent reliable player. But he's not an efficient player, and he's for as good as he is after the catch, he doesn't really have impressive YPC numbers.

who has played at a high level versus Latimer who is not as well as other players who may not be on team next year (Slayton not included). He will help Jones a lot. Also helps Shepard and Engram.

Nobody is really down on tate. They're down on overspending on what Tate is. He's not that good, and he's being paid like it when we have guys on this roster that already do what he does.

The best quality Tate has is YAC, but even with that he doesn't really produce impressive YPC.

When a WR starts getting praised for his blocking and his toughness ahead of his ability to catch the ball downfield and score touchdowns it's a worry.

Those who like him trot out he's a gamer, he's tough, he's a football player, he's a leader. It's weird how no one says he's a really good wide receiver, he gets open downfield, he scores a lot of touch downs.
