GBN Draft Report -- Top 100 College Prospects (10/7)...

M.S. : 10/9/2019 9:01 am
...right now the Giants are picking 10/11 and one name that jumps out at #9 -- that monster Safety out of LSU, Grant Delpit. I could be wrong, but I don't think we've ever had a Safety quite like this guy.

In any event, with all our needs -- Edge, ILB, WR, OT, C -- don't forget about Safety. If Grant Delpit is there around #10, would love to see in Giants Blue.

Giants early mock

Tristan Wirfs OT with their first pick
Tee Huggins WR at 2
Use FA money for the defense
We need talent

on defense across the board. Have to think Delpit, Brown and Simmons would be near the top of the board
I've been on the rusher bandwagon for a while
Biteymax22 : 10/9/2019 9:35 am : link
But watching Solder the last couple of weeks really has me thinking we may go OT. I wouldn't lose sleep over Delpit though, he's an impact player at a position of need.
When is Zane Zandier expected to come out
giants_10_88 : 10/9/2019 9:45 am : link
Everytime I watch a UVa game he seems to be all over the field.
Looks like gbn

Has the safeties 40xs up already . Just saying. There's a few interesting ones, probably, assuming the play stats are also good. If not the consensus #1, maybe a few of the others , but not the slow ones.
I'll be torn...
Dan in the Springs : 10/9/2019 9:51 am : link
between grabbing an exceptional talent and trading down if possible. We definitely need stars, but we also need talent at so many positions.

More OL, more LB, more EDGE, more safeties, even more TE & more WR. More, more, more.

Love how we got 3 great pieces out of the first round this year. Would love to get 2-3 more somehow next year as well.

A single great safety playing next to a liability makes for a weak secondary imo. We've seen that happening for years.

A team of great DL playing with liability at LB makes for a weak front seven.

A team of great skill position players playing with liability on the OL makes for a bad offense.

Etc.

We have to get talent and depth everywhere.
I think it is still a little early to tell
beatrixkiddo : 10/9/2019 10:01 am : link
What our greatest needs will be. Maybe Love and or Beal show something at FS as the season progresses. We have a ton of youth in the secondary that needs some time. I still think if the value is there OT, LB/ pass rusher are the biggest needs. WR, S, DE close behind.

Here's a $64 question I can't answer:

How many holes in the dike can Gettleman fill before others spring open?

The Giants need a significant infusion of talent at Edge, Safety, ILBer and WR. And now, Nate Solder, Mike Remmers and Jon Halapio are looking more and more like JAGs who will need to be replaced as well.

It would be nice if Gettleman could pin down a few positions with an infusion of young Free Agency talent. But his success rate on that front has not been great. And there's no guarantee that highly talented FAs will want to play for a franchise that has accrued a winning percentage of .338 (33-52) since 2014.

The primary emphasis has got to be the Draft in which Gettleman has performed quite well. But how many Drafts will it take him to fill all these needs? And while that multi-year Draft process is unfolding, how many other positions spring a leak?

Our two biggest assets are Saquon and DJ....
No Where Man : 10/9/2019 10:36 am : link
They are our priority. We have to protect them. DG showed last year that he does "Cluster Draft". I could see an OT and an OC with our first 2 picks, along with signing an experienced OT in Free Agency, (Jack Conklin)?
Biadasz seems low, havent seen the Iowa guy, but I really like
Zeke's Alibi : 10/9/2019 10:42 am : link
the Stanford guy Little, and Delpit would be a no brainer if we are picking at 10 or so and Betcher is still here. He'd love a guy like that.
My main focus this offseason
Jay on the Island : 10/9/2019 10:52 am : link
would be to add to the pass rush and add at least one OT. I would prefer to add a pass rusher in FA and OT in round 1. Then after that focus on WR, ILB, FS, C, and TE. Protecting Jones should be the priority.
These draft sites are so lost when it comes
BigBlueBuff : 10/9/2019 10:54 am : link
to Marvin Wilson.
Walker Little is a very interesting case
Jay on the Island : 10/9/2019 11:04 am : link
He's out for the season with a knee injury but if he was healthy he would have more than likely gone in the top 10. It will be interesting to see where he goes.
Hoping that 5 QBs go top 10

Tua, Herbert, Fromm, Eason, Love?

Drive that non QB talent down to the Giants.

That would be REALLY nice!!!
There are enough holes to fill that
Bob in Newburgh : 10/9/2019 11:20 am : link
Subject to someone being outrageously bpa - you do not use your first and second day picks on

ER - We have the young raw athleticism to develop and Golden to extend.

WR - What we have is more than good enough, particularly if through o-line improvement we have a running game, and pass protection that sometimes allows DJ to scan the field.
Need to rebuild the fortress from the inside out.....

That's not impossible. Eason didn't play well last week against Stanford, but I think he's a better prospect than Fromm. Who I'm not sure his a top flight QB prospect...

So many needs but I like your thinking with Barkley and
Jones the O-line must become a strength . Get a center and
third and one will be an automatic 1st down .
LT center I would look at first two picks going there
the rest of the draft go defense I would try to move
Tomlinson and Jack rabbit for a pick's as well .
Come other items...
bw in dc : 10/9/2019 12:52 pm : link
Amazing that Jalen Hurts is #43. I'm happy for him, but I have to think he's getting a major bump from playing in the Swiss Cheese 12. That's feels very artificial to me...

Love the Biadasz/C for Wisconsin. You want interior OLs, Badgers know how to grow them lately...

The LSU OL has improved this year and Charles has really stabilized it. Real good T prospect.

I've always been a sucker for ND OGs...and Tommy Kraemer is not exception this year... ;)

If Tristan Wirts is available when Giants pick then I hope DG takes him
He is a franchise LT. Exactly what Jones/Barkley need
I also agree a center should be picked

I think DG should spend his FA money on defense
There should be around 80 million to spend
I like Wirfs a lot. He probably needs to get stronger,
shockeyisthebest8056 : 10/9/2019 1:01 pm : link
but I think he's athletic enough to move to LT.

Delpit has great speed, but I wonder if he's better closer to the LOS. The Giants really need a center fielder to pair with Peppers.

I think Little will be back for his senior season. Considering his injury, and that he plays at Stanford, I’m not ready to count on this guy coming out yet.

Regarding Whirfs, if he’s so high on everyone’s list, why is he playing right tackle?

It would be great if this team could find a young stud LT for the next 10 years. I would be happy with Wirfs also because of his upside.

If we dont have a better 2nd 1/2 W/L line we have to trade down especially if a couple of (tier 1) QBs are left on the board ... the offers should be a nice bounty.
Was there ever a team that
HoodieGelo : 10/9/2019 2:41 pm : link
had no weaknesses? Some of you act like without studs at every position and at their backups, no team can ever go anywhere.

Our biggest weaknesses right now is ER. Must focus on that. After that LB. The OL is night and day compared to what it once was but I certainly wouldn't call it a "weakness."
Picks
Gruber : 10/9/2019 5:17 pm : link
What's Trevor Lawrence's situation? Is he not graduating until 2021?
Anyway, I reckon we will at best be 7-9, but more realistically 5-11 or 6-10. So we could be drafting anywhere between 5th and 11th, depending on strength of schedule.
Accrue more draft picks? Love to, but are you really going to trade Evan Engram?

Lawrence and Justin Fields are not eligible for the 2020 draft. They can enter the 2021 draft.
Don’t see another DB that high

I had no idea that happened. He was awesome last year.
still too many holes not to go BPA
larryflower37 : 10/9/2019 9:52 pm : link
outside of RB, QB, guard, and maybe CB based on drafting 4 in the last 2 drafts.
I would say every other position is a need and could be drafted in the first 3 rounds
I'm sure DG goes BPA, but
section125 : 10/9/2019 11:01 pm : link
I think OT, both sides, is the #1 need. Ximines and Golden and maybe Shipper are good enough for DE/ER. ILB with speed is more of a need than DE/ER.

Still don't know what they have in the secondary, maybe Love can play FS. Hope he gets to play so they can see.
