in year 2, Trubisky made the pro bowl on one of the better teams in the NFC. I'm not sold on him, but he kept surprising me last year when I expected him to fail. After the trade deadline, the only way for Eli to join a new team this season would be for the Giants to release him. The problem with that scenario is that all players after the trade deadline have to pass through waivers. There is no guarantee that a team with playoff prospects is in line to put in a waiver claim. Also, if Eli goes unclaimed, then he can still be paid his full salary as termination pay so there is no cap savings for the Giants.

Unless Eli is demanding a trade, I don't see Mara/DG willing to trade a franchise legend for what amounts to a $6M cap savings.
I'm thankful for all Eli did to help the Giants win 2 SB's. Its a shame the organization failed him with its mostly poor decisions on drafting/personnel after 2011. I think he's truly upset about being benched, more than we will ever know. But, I also think he truly has class and is trying to help Jones.
