NFT: Help Printing Sensitive Document

Steve in ATL : 10/9/2019 3:32 pm
I need to print a sensitive document, sign the document, and mail it. Have not had a printer in years. Never thought I would need one again. The only printer I have easy access to is connected to a public computer that does not allow access to a USB port.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get access to the file securely on a public computer? Or are there companies that will print the document for me?

Thanks.
Did you check

with FedEx/Kinkos or Staples?

Thanks. I wasn't sure what companies offered that service. Will check with them if a workable security method is not identified.

If you are worried I would suggest just buying a printer. There are many offerings under $100 some well under.
If you wanted to use the public

computer (I wouldn't if I didn't have to) you can always load the file to a document sharing/management site like dropbox or box and log in to your dropbox account from the public computer and then open and print the document.

and then log out of your dropbox account.

or you can mail it to yourself at your gmail, etc. account and open that from the public computer.

the document would need to have the app installed for the type of document (like acrobat reader if the document is a PDF) or word if it's a word doc, etc.

Both FedEx and Staples offer cloud printing services

that are secure and can be used from your mobile phone, assuming you have no problem pushing your document up to the cloud first.
Thanks everyone

I think I will the FedEx and Staples route. My problem with the document is it includes my social security number so I want to be careful.
Folks are a lot more trusting that me

Once you push a doc onto to one of these corporate networks you have no control over what happens

If you're only worried about your soc # you may want to consider prinitng the document and then addding your soc # to the document by hand (pen) AFTER printing.

That way a copy of your doc (which stays on the printer's hard drive) will not contain this info.
Or you could just buy a printer

Thanks. It will be a one time use though. I may buy a printer for my brother and use it this one time. I usually print to PDF. Don't want more stuff!!! I am moving in a few months.
It's $20.

The toner probably costs more than that printer. If I buy a printer for my brother (and use it) it will be a good one.
I apologize
