Guys, the offensive line still sucks. Gettleman has not done such a great job here as we had all hoped. Solder, at his salary, is a disaster and Remmers is way below league average. Our guards have underperformed and Halapio is not a good NFL starter. Jones, as in all the games he has played, is constantly under duress. When you look at the Eagles, and Cowboys upfront and then look at our guys, it is going to be a long time before we can compete for titles against those teams.
The line is average at best and better than last year, but still need improvement no doubt. I would like to have Barkley back along with some of the other players
Look at how many units you can say that about - while people go on about how this "rebuild" should take 5 years - I don't think they realize that at the average rate of attrition, they'll have lost a good number of players who were added in that timeframe by year 5. And that's without taking into consideration that a lot of the players being added just aren't very good.
I hope you're right, because he looks horrid out there.
To take it a step further, I think offensive line play is an issue around the league. There really aren’t any dominant lines anymore.
The line isn’t perfect, but it’s an improvement from last season. I know that’s not saying much, but baby steps.
All aboard the Andrew Thomas and Tristan Wirfs train
The OL was not the problem imo
The real problem this year was to ignore RT in the draft until taking a flyer on Big George. We put too much faith in Remmers a guy who wasn't healthy enough to jog around in shorts/t-shirt after we signed him. Eric was posting pictures of Remmers from his Viking days exclaiming "this is what a real RT looks like" and the lemmings of BBI hopped on the bandwagon.
So instead of building another key piece of the OL with a high draft pick, we settled on a band-aid when we knew we were already settling on a band-aid at LT/C. Now, we realize that outside of Hernandez/Zeitler, the entire OL is bleeding through the band-aids and they all need to be replaced.
Sure there was an alternative to paying a mediocre (at best) LT top tackle money - it was to get a marginally worse tackle and use that money somewhere else.
The biggest failure of Gettleman's tenure thus far has been his FA spending. To put it bluntly - he sucks at it. When he pays for discount players, he disappoints. When he pays good money for talent, he disappoints. The likes of Ogletree and Solder on this team occupy a huge swath of the cap for very little in return, and 'there weren't better options available' doesn't make it any better.
Lmao. Your so off base. Zeitler is playing with a bad shoulder. Remmers has been 20 times better than solder. So you want to bench the right side of our line and use backups with a rookie QB. This is called an emotional reaction to a game we had no business being in. The fact we kept it close gave everyone on this board a false sense of what this team is. We aren’t very good and we happened to play up to the opponent.
We really need someone on the team not playing or practice squad to emerge....hopefully to take Remmers spot. Can't keep throwing heavy resources draft/Fa with all the other holes imo.
Speaking of which, i never seen so much movement by an olmen prior to the snap
The line isn't above average but it's better than last year's version. If 26 is out there last night, we are likely having a different conversation.
...so many holes to fill, not enough picks to fill them.

Bingo there's one run that was going to the house.
Our #1 WR, TE and RB were all out. Our 2nd WR was playing his 1st game of the season and our RB is barely PS worthy but he had a decent game.
This is not the game to pick apart the team. We needed a perfect game and had a chance even though it wasnt perfect. 4 turnovers and a blocked punt will kill any team. Overall the score doesnt reflect the game. The D played great, Special teams let us down in a big way and the O with the weather also affecting the pass just didnt have enough to win this game.
I don't understand why people aren't factoring in our opponents over the first 6 games of this season. The Cowboys, Bills, Bucs, Vikings and Patriots all have Top 10 defenses with great Front Sevens. Hell, even the Redskins have a pretty good Front Seven (zero offense is their problem).
The schedule and defenses lighten up in 3 of the next 4 games. Let's see how they fair against those opponents.
