most players make better decisions. His job there is not to nail the ball carrier but to prevent him from advancing. When you close, your goal should be to slow down and wrap him up.
just ran around and hit people and lead the team in tackles every season, even when he missed 4 games last season. Better to underpay some undrafted free agent to stand around and look confused.
Rewatched the NFC title game and Super Bowl of the 1989-90 team. Title game known for Hoss taking a helmet to the knee from Jim Burt and missing a scary series with Cavanaugh in there. Then Marshall knocks Montana out of the game and this unknown Steve Young plays their last possession.
But the Super Bowl against the Bills was the better game. Hostetler passing way off target in first half, but his last throw of the half he through a beauty into the corner of the end zone for much needed TD. Second half just a back and forth brawl decided with two seconds left. The “greatest drive in Super Bowl history” with Ingram’s run. Giants stopped the Kelly juggernaut by first keeping it off the field. But everyone on that defense could tackle, right down to Myron Guyton and Greg Jackson. They let Kelly complete the short stuff but allowed 0 yards after catch.
The far fewer flags and even fewer replays was really noticeable. The game flowed from play to play without the players standing around after almost every play to wait for the officials.
The play before they caught a glimpse of Peppers looking gassed. He wobbled into his own teammate trying to catch some air. I saw that and the first thing that came to my mind is “ooooh. I’m sure Belichick or Brady see that.” Next play they isolate him one on one to make a tackle.
One missed tackle in otherwise a great peppers game Â
for being the first defender to miss the tackle, there were 2 others that missed tackles that still would have forced the 4th down. But as is typical with Bettcher's Boys, the opponent converted on 3rd down.
but maybe I'm in the majority, but I've really liked the way he's played the last few weeks. I think Betcher is finally starting to figure out how to use him.
I don't think he had time to break down, if he does he gives Â

He has flashed a couple times but also made a ton of mistakes.
I’ve noticed a bunch of plays where he runs into the pile of blockers instead of filling a gap. The play where Edelman got flagged last night was another example of that.
And it’s hard to judge responsibility in zone coverage, but it seems like anytime he is in zone there are always people running free in his vicinity
I've read a reason for not re-signing a FA as "he's already 25".
holy shit.
there are many reasons for not re-signing Collins and overall it's probably a smart decision, but because "he's already 25" that is a new one for me.
Indeed, the biggest of which is he cost too much for a player who is at best equal to Peppers.
Another wrong answer.
Look, it's ok to have a player leave without shitting on him.
and no need to prop up the new guy who was added to your team at the same position.
Saying Collins is "at best equal to Peppers" makes you sound like a jilted ex-girlfriend.
Again, not re-signing Collins is very likely the right move, but I see no way a more than casual fan could watch the 2016 and 2017 seasons and say "at best Collins is equal to Peppers" who to this point has had not even a fraction of the success Collins has had. True, 2016 and 2017 appear to be the peak for Collins but I think you need to ask yourself why.
anyway, Peppers is here, Collins is not, people should just let it go.
the 2019 version of Peppers is equal or better to the 2019 version of Collins.
For about $7M less and not coming off a serious surgery.
I’ve only seen the giants game Collins played in, which was not a good game for him, but feel pretty safe in saying that he is still a better player than peppers.
Either way, unless peppers improves dramatically, we will need to find someone better if we want to hang with the best teams in the league. The guy is a liability who occasionally uses his athleticism to make a flash play.
RE: That play was more frustrating because the last guy to wear Â
He needs to step it up. No more bs.

This. The loss isn't on the defense, it's on the offense and that blocked punt.
holy shit.

Probably pissed he got completely outplayed.

Bethea is flat out garbage. It’s a real problem that they can’t find anyone to take some of his snaps.

Not sure I agree with this.
Like I said, have only seen the game against us in which he didn't look good, I'll take your word for it that he has been a disappointment in Wash.
Doesn't mean Peppers is the answer for us though. I cant count how many time I wondering what the fuck peppers is doing on a given play.
