does look terrible. Poor instincts and bad angles. I get he's older and slower, but a vet shouldn't seemingly have poor instincts and take bad angles.

I saw Bethea not pick up his man in zone. He was staring at his guy but for some reason just didn't pick him up. It appeared as if he was afraid of contact. It's time for Love to get a shot. Bethea is useless out there.

It’s either Chandler or Love if you want to replace Bethea. And I’d be glad to see what either has to offer.

I dunno... if they really think Love is a Safety, then it's too early for him to get tossed to the wolves in a new position.

Giants.com still has him as a CB. I was really hoping he would have taken over for Haley but he must be terrible to not see the field. Giants have not been afraid to put rooks in big positions (Connelly, Slayton) so if Love is not seeing the field, he must be weak at practice.

Giants have been going with this 3 safety look a lot with Thomas. In those Peppers is closer to the line and Thomas is more a mid.

played one snap at FS in college. I don't know if they tried him there in the preseason. Maybe he's not ready????

needs to be benched, along with Haley and Stupar. I have no idea why we aren't playing Love, Ballentine, and Skipper instead of these three.

True and that's worked pretty well at times but Thomas still isn't a replacement for Bethea.

Said it in the GT, Bethea is the worst starting defensive player and it’s not close.

He genuinely looks like he’s afraid of contact in the open field and is lost in coverage. He has to be replaced. This isn’t a one week anomaly, it has been all year long. Love or Chandler must play. Bethea may be the worst starting safety in the league, they literally cannot be worse.

...he's not the answer at FS. He and Chandler are both swingmen; so if there's a replacement for Bethea on the roster it has to be Love. I assume we'll see him as soon as the staff feels that throwing him into the lineup at a new position will do more good than harm.

To play Love and Ballentine and Beal when he's eligible to come off IR... you're already punting on the season to get Jones the necessary experience for the future, you might as well get the entire draft class in there to see what you have. Bethea and Jackrabbit and Ogletree and Ellison and oh, prb 3 or 4 other guys aren't going to be around next year.

Will be a key part of next off season. Too late this year to find one. Maybe a young guy steps up but not looking likely at this point.

This is zero fan reaction. There is no way Shurmur and the team can watch film and accept Bethea playing. I am dumbfounded. He is absolutely gut wrenching to watch in zone. Two guys will come and he doesn't pick up either, he stares and waits.

If anyone else is the least bit capable of lining up the backend and making the calls he should be riding the pine. His value to this team is limited to passing on his savvy and knowledge in the meeting rooms and practice field. It's over.

I was willing to give Bethea a chance despite a rough start, thinking maybe this thing comes together like we've seen in the past. But he's the last line of defense, and so many times I saw him in the wrong spot to make a tackle, missing tackles, etc. and then I can't remember the last time I saw him get over to help a guy in pass D, like we see other FS do.
I don't know if he's our WORST player (cough Stupar cough) and everyone missed tackles last night. But he's certainly not making up for any problems. Very disappointing. And the fact that Bettcher wanted him and isn't changing him out makes me question him, too.

But Bethea has no business being in the NFL, let alone starting. There is no point to having this guy on the roster. He needs to be cut. Take your lumps with a young guy and then fill the position in free agency for the love of god. Get Methuselah off the field

Awful free agent signings by this GM. A 35 year old safety on this team. Defies logic.

In my opinion Haley had a bad game the week before, however he has been solid otherwise, including a good game against the New England Bundchins....
