NFT: Fantasy trade offered to me

nygnyy274 : 10/11/2019 2:36 pm
I got offered Austin Hooper and Jamison Crowder for Travis Kelce and Demarcus Robinson. Full PPR. I am thinking of accepting it. Hooper has been a monster this year plus I am the Ryan owner and I like crowder better then Robinson now that Darnold is back. What do you guys think?
hard pass for me

You're

selling low on Kelce.
what's to think about?
giants#1 : 10/11/2019 2:46 pm : link
You're giving up by far the best player and not getting anything close in value back. Crowder sucks, with or without Darnold (though he's probably a worthwhile play when they face the NYG D).

Is this guy

going to at least treat you to dinner first?
Don’t overthink this man

You do not trade Travis Kelce. You will invariably regret it at some point. Hooper has a hot hand at the moment. Kelce has a body of work as THE #1 fantasy TE for a few years now and it’s not even close. Plus he plays for Reid and Mahomes.

Also, what value does Crowder offer if any? I’d much rather have Demarcus Robinson so that just clinches it for me.

I came on here last year after week 1 floating the idea of trading Kelce for Devonta Freeman and I’m thankful my friends on BBI talked me out of it. I went on to win that league and much in part due to Kelce being a consistent difference maker at generally frustrating fantasy position (TE). Since they talked me out of it I’ll practice good karma and repeat the exact word for word letter for letter advice that one poster gave me that I will never forget:

KEEP KELCE!!!!!

I feel like you’re selling low on the Chiefs in general. They have one down game and you’re ready to swap Kelce for the hot TE of the moment? And trade one of their productive receivers for one of Sam Darnold’s WRs? I know Tyreek Hill is coming back but you never know with injuries and the chiefs spread the ball around so much anyway. I’m keeping Mecole Hardman on my roster for instance because any one of the receivers on that team could end up in a situation where they’re getting substantial targets and production. I wouldn’t trust Adam Gase, the Jets, or Darnold as any variable on its own much less all 3 combined. IDK just thinking out loud

Is fuller for Emmanuel Sanders

kelce deal is just bad.

i like sanders better than fuller, but it's close. fuller is more boom or bust.

crowder is a week to week flex play. Kelce is a top-20 player. if you're dealing kelce you should probably get a wr1 back or at minimum a package that gets you a wr2 plus more. crowder is not even a top-40 player. I will grant you that hooper has played well but he has been a safety valve. if/when the atl offense starts to work hooper will disappear. he is not their first option by design. Whereas Kelce is the first or second option int he most dynamic offense in football.
People get too hung up on "talent"
EricJ : 10/11/2019 4:44 pm : link
but when it comes to fantasy football, talent is only one component and opportunity, system and other factors play a role in whether someone will be productive.

For fun, I offered someone Gallup and Breida for OBJ in a league. This guy really needed a RB too. I mean.. his roster is shit for RBs.

He refused because he obviously drafted him high and is thinking this year's OBJ is what he remembers watching on sportscenter years ago.

So, of course he refused and OBJ gave him 4 points last weekend. If he made the trade with me he would have won his matchup. Now, remove ONE play against the Jets for OBJ and he is ranked poorly on the season versus other WRs.

Now, factor in his situation. He has a QB that is struggling and their OL cannot give Mayfield enough time to throw.

So, although OBJ is obviously a better talent than the two guys I offered, the weekly point production for those two will likely far exceed OBJ on a consistent basis.

I agree. Hooper has more fantasy points then Kelce this year and to be honest I thought with HIll out Kelce was going to be a monster. Aside from week 2 here is Kelces points. 11.8 15.9 15.1 and 11.0.

trading Kelce for Hooper is how you lose in fantasy football..
Why ask for advice
Mike Graves : 10/11/2019 7:59 pm : link
If you feel comfortable making the trade then do the trade. Hooper has been a top 5 tight end so far and the falcons throw the ball just as much as KC as a matter of fact Engram Hooper and Dissly all have more fantasy points in a ppr then Kelce and crowder is better then robinson

Yea but at the end of the year Kelce will be the top TE. I’m not going to do the trade I rejected it. I’m trying to get crowder from him for Robinson straight up tho

First of all, I did not comment on that particular trade with Kelce. I was talking about weighing "talent" too heavily in fantasy without taking all of the other factors into consideration.

Second, I would never suggest trading Kelce for Hooper in a straight up trade. Something else would have to ride along with Hooper to deliver points in TWO positions. Not sure how that was lost on you.

Finally.. sitting on a guy who is not producing until it is too late to get into your fantasy playoffs is how you lose in fantasy football.
You would have to really prefer
BigBluesman : 10/11/2019 8:48 pm : link
Hooper to Kelce as a TE. Both of the WRs are pretty much worthless. I don't know how deep your league is but D. Robinson has been a free agent for a few weeks in mine, as is Byron Pringle who has close to the same value. Personally, I'm about ready to cut Sammy Watkins from my team. The Chiefs receiving situation is far too nebulous. I thought Kelce was at least a little bit above that issue though. I liked Crowder's game from watching him vs. the Giants and drafted him last year, he did nothing. Not sure if this year is different on the Jets. I'd say its a relatively unexciting to losing trade.

I was offered Melvin Gordon for Zach Ertz in a PPR league.

My other RBs are Ekeler and Devonta Freeman. I would be starting Everett at TE.

Should I pull the trigger. I am going back and forth.

Thanks in advance

By 'other RBs' you mean that's all you have? I'd feel pretty compelled if that's the case, even risking the downgrade at TE (tho Everett isn't a terrible bet atm). I can't think of too many scenarios why I wouldn't do it...fwiw

Sucks to lose Ertz but w/ Everett you hope to mitigate that loss, and Eckler & Freeman is as close nothing FF-wise without being literally nothing at this point, w/ Gordon back and Freeman only saving face w/ garbage time catches (i have him too)

I also have Tevin Coleman. I am somehow 5-0. I have Michael Thomas and Juju but have been very lucky.

I think I have to make the deal even though I hate losing Ertz
Hooper
nygnyy274 : 10/13/2019 6:39 pm : link
8 catches 117 yards a TD
Crowder over 10 points

Kelce and Robinson were duds today Robinson had no catches. should of accepted that trade

Like I said the other day if you feel comfortable making the trade do it. Hooper had 29 points in a PPr and crowder had over 15. I will say it again Hooper has been better then kelce this year

Crowder with Darnold the two games has been a PPR machine 20 catches and loads of targets

Hooper is not better than Kelce. I'm not saying don't acquire Hooper. he is ok. But Kelce is on another planet. If you trade Kelce for Hooper you will regret it.
