Opens his show with 30 seconds on why the Giants and Giants fans have nothing positive to take away from last night's loss.
Technically, he's not incorrect that the Pats won comfortably. But to completely dismiss anything positive to take away is really looking to be negative and hyper-critical. His argument that our D doesn't deserve any credit is the Pats' offense sucks. Really?
LMFAO
Francesa used to be plugged in and I think Gettleman had a pre-draft interview that maybe rubbed Mike F the wrong way. Just my opinion.
Sometimes he has good stuff. I think he's particularly good with baseball. And while I'm a Mets fan, I'm invested in the Yankees postseason because I don't hate them and I have so many friends and family members who are Yankees fans and I'm happy for them.
Usually, I just cherrypick content from his show via the podcast, but today I was streaming Bart and Maggie live and just let the player keep running after their show.
Really there's no point in listening to his Giants take. It's agenda driven because he's having a temper tantrum towards them at the moment.
It’s kind of a weird balancing act because he transparently hates the Jets as well and they are dreadful but he’s looking for a silver lining with that team.

Thank you Oscar - I thought it was just me - he had this odd anti-Giants stance. Even the way he has knocked Gettleman for not being available after the team went with Jones as the starter in week 3. Shurmur's cancellation just fanned the flames.
Maybe, but he has said more than once over the years that he's not a Giants fan and that people thought he was because he had a personal relationship with Parcells (and that they had some sort of falling out before sort of patching things up after a few years). I don't recall him saying who he's a fan of, other than the Yankees.
Either Giants/Patriots review or Yankees/Astros and maybe Darnold returning....
the topic - Beltran as possible Mets manager.

he's frustrated, to the point where sometimes he makes no sense. And he's got that grudge going on between him and the team, which only makes matters worse.

He claims to not root for any one team - but if you listen to him, it's pretty clear. I don't spend much time listening to him and what I hear from him doesn't differ much from a lot of other Giant fan complaining I hear.
Which doesn't make him a great listen, but at least explains a few things.

There is constant Mets and Jets talk all day on WFAN.
The negative is that the coach continues to manage the game like a novice and, despite the reasoning behind each turnover, a team cannot make as many mistakes as it did last night. There were more positives than negatives, but I'm not overly ecstatic today. I'm most happy that they gave me 3.25 quarters of entertaining football.
To your point, he's right in some cases for the wrong reasons. He's pissed because the Giants didn't clue him in on their plans. Mike's whole thing is trying to pretend he has access that others don't based on his years in the media. The Giants ignored him or gave him false info. They clearly leaked the Odell stuff to Glazer which I'm sure Francesa didn't like. And he got blindsided by the Jones pick at 6.
Now, he can't stand the Giants front office and will take shots at them. So long as the Giants are losing, it's an easy target for him.
Personally, I think the Gettleman is doing a good job on the draft front (I know you don't like the Barkley pick), but overall he's done the right thing in blowing up the team and it appears he's found his QB of the future, which was the crux of everything, to find Eli's replacement. His free agency scorecard is less stellar, though Marcus Golden appears to be a find. Even Aikman gave some praise last night to the Giants that slowly they are building something positive.
But Francesa has become a characture of himself at this point of his career. People are making fun of him and he's not self aware enough to recognize it. So while some of his criticism of the Giants might not be wrong, the way he's come to that conclusion has less to do with his understanding about the team and more his need to crap on them to settle scores.
I also agree that Francesa has become a caricature. However, he's not wrong if he's saying we shouldn't be taking moral victories from last night.
like most fans. Prove me wrong lol
Good point. I mean, the whole world expected this game to be over before the half. Hell, I would have signed up for the Giants being within a TD with less than 10 minutes left in the game. With so many important starters on offense out and a somewhat patchwork D with some walking wounded starting? Hell, yeah.
I've not listened to the entire show since I posted but tuned in again and it sounds like Mike is getting a lot of push back from Giants fans and now is grudgingly giving the team a little more credit. Praised the defense a little and said Shurmer is a decent "play-caller...sequencer..."
Not sure what else to say when the head guy says that...........

This. I was a big fan of his, but I ve lost respect for the reasons you state. I could have predicted last night his take on this game.
He s been spurned by the Giants so now his take on anything they do will be spun to the negative. He s revealing himself and looking foolish in the process
Excellent point
Then why did you click on the thread? Apparently, you do care.
Perhaps that could have been better articulated. I was referring to the silver lining mode some of us adopted after that game. A play here or there, some better officiating, and the Giants could have slain the dragon last night.
I think we were down 14 points at that time. And BB was probably comfortable in the knowledge that Shurmur didn't have the guys to go for it.

IF Shurmur had gone for it on 4th and 2 -- not a crazy thought -- and if we'd gained a 1st down (also not unreasonable), we would have had the ball, down only 7, with 6-7 minutes left in the game. Ask BB if he felt comfortable...
Excellent point
Actually, we were down by 14 points. And doing absolutely nothing on offense by that time. It was a "big picture" decision I believe by all involved, including the FO.
Enjoy the moral victory. I suppose there needs to be something to cling to when the Pats treated us like the Redskins- mailed it in and won by 20.
We got so accustomed to Reese's follies that we mistake a very average GM for someone "building something" because he got rid of a bunch of JAGS and replaced them with for the most part other JAGS. The Cardinals, not overburdened with talent, found Golden expendable. Peppers runs around alot and does nothing well. Bethea sucks. Golden Tate can't separate from his grandmother. These are all major acquisitions.
Unlike Reese, who was a total and complete disaster, Gettlemen at least shuffles the roster which I suppose is something and may stumble into some guys who can play as he has with Slayton. Maybe Lawrence (although the Pats showed you all what they thought of Lawrence by running 7 qb sneaks with a 43 year old qb).
As for the qb of the future, his play has regressed each week over the last four weeks and he was awful against the Pats (unless of course you delude yourself into seeing rainbows and gum drops). That is to be expected as the League gets film on him. What remains to be seen is how he adjusts to DC's getting his number. Is he the real deal or is he (as some analysts thought) the next Tannehill? Stay tuned.
