Halapio giving away snap count!?

Fred-in-Florida : 10/12/2019 7:12 am
It was talked about after the Buc's game that just before the snap, he looks back then one count and he hikes the ball. I saw it multiple times Thursday.

This needs to be addressed. Bad enough the OL isn't getting the push it needs but if the defense is on the snap count too!

I'll delete if discussed but I looked and didn't see it.
That would seem

Such an obvious flaw it s hard to believe the coaching staff wouldnít have early on addressed such an issue.

But who knows
I agree
Fred-in-Florida : 10/12/2019 7:28 am : link
that's why I brought it up.

I was at the Skins game and watched him a few times and didn't see him doing it.

It needs to be addresses. Between him looking back and Zeitler's 'bob' looks like a bunch of dancing bears!
There could be multiple tells
Giantimistic : 10/12/2019 7:31 am : link
Ziietler also has a reset of how he stands every play. It is early in the clock but if I am a defense I am not worried about rushing until after I see him set.
Multiple times?

How about every play!
Yeah, we talked about

this a couple weeks back. Seems to be a giveaway..
The press even asked shurmur

About this.
I've been thinking about this the past couple days
eclipz928 : 10/12/2019 7:52 am : link
Jones shotgun, Halapio head bob, 1 Mississippi, snap. Happened for at least the entire second half of the game.

If the Giants changed up the snap count or did a hard count more often I suspect that this wouldn't be an issue. But the pattern was pretty blatant in this last game.
It may only happen in away stadiums

When they use the silent count.
Holy shit.
Tuckrule : 10/12/2019 8:09 am : link
Some of you clearly never played football. Itís called a silent snap count it is not a giveaway. Itís a head bob and then either count 1 second or 2 seconds after the second bob. So it varies by 1 or 2 seconds after each head bob for example they could go on 2 on 2. Which means, second head bob and a 2 count. Or they could on 1 and 1. Which is first head bob and a one count.

As far as Zeitler, heís been doing that for his entire career. Also, not a giveaway. Carry on

It can also be eliminated by putting Jones under center. Changing snap counts even the silent count as Tuckrule inferred can be done. Put Jones under center and Halapio doesn't need to check if Jones is ready. Now, when Jones is in the shotgun, it isn't just when he is ready, but ensuring every player is set. Jones under center allows for him to make sure everyone is set and given the signal (usually the upper hand gives a tap to the taint) then the ball is snapped in a silent count or he can continue with his cadence.
Well then change the snap count!
BigBlue in Keys : 10/12/2019 8:27 am : link
It always seems like the snap is a second after Zeitlers "bob". Teams have been getting a jump on our OL all year.
More important than the count
Tuckrule : 10/12/2019 8:30 am : link
Is halapios poor play all season long. I donít see how pulley can be any worse.

Spencer was getting tossed around last year like the red-headed step-child. Spencer sucks and should never have been given an opportunity to stick around. For all the mention of "rebuild" around these parts, we seem to be content with a lot of band-aids on the OL. Remmers should never had been a consideration. We either sequester Wheeler in an Eastern European girls gymnast camp for the off-season to get him strong, or we draft talent instead of settling for Big George at the end of the draft while spending the bulk of the draft to extend membership to the exclusive Bettcher Boys club.
Zietler seems to reset after he is set,

looks like movement to me but it hasn't been called.
Halapio

is like the Jonas Seawright of OL. Strange fascination for someone who played for the Brooklyn Bolts.

Really really disappointing. Going into preseason I was very concerned that the Giants were going with a guy that played all of 8 games at center in college and pros combined.

I thought he was playing well in preseason and in game one. But he's been bad since. And bad not just physically but in not knowing assignments. Makes me think he looked good early because he was playing next to a healthy Zeitler.

I think it was Sy who said that if Halapio doesn't play up to the Giants' expectations for him, then he could sabotage the offense. I think we may be seeing that now.

Hilarious, but accurate.

That's good info. But I don't see how that's not a huge advantage to the D - knowing after the head bob it's either 1 or 2. It's not exact yet at worst is 50-50, and if they don't go on 1 you KNOW it's 2. DL jump snap counts anyway, so you'd think that's a huge key off the line. There might be more to this convo (maybe silent count forces no more than a 2 count?). But it still seems much easier to anticipate if that's what they are doing
Of course you'd think NYG's coaches are well aware of this
ChaChing : 10/12/2019 1:20 pm : link
but still must use silent count in certain instances regardless...

I guess they forgot that 2 seconds was an option.

I played football. That's not what keys the silent count. We had different keys all the time changed on each series not the same key whole game.
He's giving away the snap count...
Kanavis : 10/13/2019 7:51 pm : link
Why not use this to get the offense to jump. How about 3 seconds after the head bob? I played center in high school. We were allowed to look before getting set. But from that point on we were expected to snap it without looking. Halapio is just not that good. On all fronts. I don't know why everyone was suddenly sold on him.
