Holy shit, now that's how you do a finale. I cheered when Kendall went off script, was really hoping he'd do something like that. Runner up for scene of the night is Tom eating Logan's chicken. Top to bottom just a great episode that really highlights just how good the show has become.
just the look on his face seemed like satisfaction - maybe that Kendall is the killer Shiv isn't.
anyway, I agree, great finale and great season.

It's definitely possible but would have been hard to predict. Even for a master manipulator like Logan. I think it was definitely satisfaction on his face though, maybe even pride. Someone on twitter had a great take: Logan never wanted to name a successor, he wanted one of them to take it.

It definitely seems that way (now).
Greg seems like a dolt but he's proven pretty adept at self-preservation. He knows a sinking ship when he sees one, he was probably smarting from the ease with which he was suggested as a fall guy ("some Greg sprinkles"), and on two occasions left enormous money on the table to stick with Logan (his inheritance and the money to to act as a whistle-blower). He also really likes/looks up to Kendall, who probably didn't find it too difficult to persuade him to help him out.
Also, I just realized as I'm typing this, but didnt Greg actually tell Kendall he saved some documents at Shiv's wedding?
I thought Greg went to keep an eye on Kendall.
on the flight, Kendall said "greg you can go to the bathroom, I'm not going to throw myself out the window".
I took that to mean Greg was there making sure Kendall wasn't despondent and didn't do something rash.
I may have misread it though.

There was definitely a look of pride on his face. Whether the moment took him by surprise or it was something he was hoping Kendell would do is what I am wondering. Logan flat out said that he himself made the most sense and its possible the whole yacht trip was a way to see if anybody had the balls to face him and make the right decision. With nobody stepping up, he felt that there wasn't anybody capable of handling the company other than himself so Kendell made the most sense as a patsy. Kendell doing what he did at the press conference may have shown Logan what he was looking for from Shiv.
I don't expect Logan will roll over and will fight tooth and nail to keep his company next season. But I think he has a respect for Kendall now that he didn't before.
A couple of other nice moments from the finale...
1) Tom eating Logan's chicken was done perfectly. Tom beside himself with fear while Logan is just befuddled by it.
2) Roman showing genuine concern for Kendall when he agrees to take the fall. Between that and the scene a couple of episodes back where Logan smacked Roman and Kendall leapt to his defense hints at a much more complex relationship than Season 1 ever showed.
3) Speaking of Roman, the scene where instead of patting himself on the back he shows genuine understanding of what is going on with the attempt to go private and good instincts shows a much more interesting character going forward rather than just being a clown.
4) Scene with Tom and Shiv on the beach again adds another interesting layer to that dynamic going forward.
The one thing I just couldn’t buy was Greg turning down 250 million to remain working for Logan. It’s not logical that he is likely that he would even equal that let alone do better with Logan. Overall he isn’t even valued highly, or treated very well. And in the first season he seemed like at his mother’s urging he was just desperate for any nepotism hand out yet we are to believe he defies he Grandpa and walks away from an easy 250 million in the process.
I get why they did it because the show is better with his character in the mix, but make it 100k and not 250 million so it’s believable.

Agree, it's a stretch, but it wasn't until his grandfather dies that he'd see that money. What does he do until then?

He definitely did... the name of the show is literally Succession, and is about Logan’s search for a successor. He said in the episode that Kendall was not a killer and that’s why he wasn’t fit for it. So by showing he was a killer, he proved he was ready for what Logan needs to find.
Sure after that the way the wrote the character he became somewhat neutered by it all, but he clearly had it in him to take on Logan, and already proved it once. It wasn't too terribly shocking that he would do it again.
Tom eating the chicken and just losing his mind was great. Shiv begging to keep Tom was something Logan won't forget, and her chances of being his successor seem to be dropping by the day since the dinner table incident.
I almost feel bad for Connor, but then I think about what a spoiled little b*tch he is and I can resume laughing at him "Can I maybe borrow a little $100 mill?". The way Logan reacted to Connor's idea to take the blame as the mastermind was great.
Greg is fantastic lol, what a bold move to jump on Kendall's side. Really wish we saw his convo with Kendall on the plane but that would ruin the surprise.
This show has always seemed to setup Kendall as the guy, but that feels too simple. The way Roman has ascended has been impressive, Logan clearly believes that Roman has a better attitude and instincts than Kendall.
Marcia is just lurking in the background but she shouldn't be forgotten.
Can't wait for the next season.

That’s definitely how I interpreted it. I think Kendall was ready to take the fall until his dad told him that he wasn’t a killer. Ken is clearly the best choice. It was obvious that Logan was proud of Kendall at the end with his subtle smile.
This show is incredible and this season was excellent IMO. There are so many great characters but my favorites are Tom, Greg, Roman, and Ken. I’m looking forward to season 3.
