I know it's a subscription but the Athletic has some really interesting articles.
This one shows how much these guys have to do to their bodies just to get ready to play an NFL game. Also shows why Thursday night football is bullshit.

Halapio played all 69 offensive snaps in the Giants’ 28-10 home loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Almost immediately after that game ended, Halapio turned his focus to preparing for the Patriots game, just 100 hours away.
Actually, the prep started before the Vikings game. Halapio’s wife had gone to Stop & Shop to buy eight 10-pound bags of ice for a homemade postgame cold tub. After stopping to get dinner, Halapio went home and filled his bathtub with the ice. |
Halapio on TNF - (
New Window )
Uhhhh...yeah, that's the point of the article. Every player has to take extreme measures to play a game so closely to their previous game. As a league so "concerned" with player safety, the NFL sure doesn't seem to give a shit that a bunch of exhausted behemoths have to put their bodies through insane regiments just to play in such a short period of recovery.
What does his (lack of) talent have to do with the stupidity of TNF, wrt to players' health?
The NBA, NHL, and MLB seasons are far too long, even for fans.
