and this coach. the Giants have been punching above their weight the last couple of weeks. but Sunday they'll be a home favorite against another rebuilding team, though one slightly behind in their process. assuming Barkley's back and not some sort of decoy, the Giants should be able to move the ball and score points. and while the Cardinals have some weapons on offense, their o-line stinks. if this defense really is starting to come together as a unit, this is a game we should see it make a difference in the outcome. and if you subscribe to the theory that underlay Shurmur's hiring - that having an experienced NFL coach matters - he also should be a difference maker on Sunday.
if it's a solid win, then it'll be much easier to be optimistic about where things are going. maybe 7-9 or 8-8 isn't unrealistic, and it'll feel like we're moving in a good direction. but if they lose, they're likely to be favored in at most two more games the rest of the season, and we'll really have to wonder what's being built here. yes, Jones will give us a reason to watch the games, but if Shurmur loses to Kingsbury, it'll be hard to make the case that he's bringing much value to this organization.
This also seems like a great game to get Julian Love on the field, S. Beal, maybe C. Ballentine. No one in that passing attack should scare anyone. You've got extra time to prepare these guys to get out there with the Thurs. night game the week before.
Let the young guys play.
Hope so but they better protect the edges or their QB will kill us.
I believe we can and will win, but I can also see a 31-10 loss
Um ... the Giants suck too. Arizona is very much a team that's about on the same level as we are.
Plus you have the first 2 rookie QBs drafted facing each other.
I would love to see this offense execute with at least Saquon and Engram on the field with Jones. Once that happens, we will get a better idea of where this team is at. But they weren't going to win the last two games either way.
I think it's obvious that with all of their weapons, the Giants can finish the season 10-0 and win the division at 12-4. Change my mind! ;)

He is - If I'm JB - I'd play a lot of 3 safety looks and make Julian Love spy KM. Make him beat you with his arm and not his legs.
I see a lot of Tea DAvis in this game and less D. Mayo.
Our DL should be able to dominate and stop the run...it's the RBs out of the backfield and the slot stuff in that spread offense that would trouble me.
Any other result is wait till next year.
He is? I dunno, whenever I see Ogletree move he resembles an action hero running from an explosion in slow motion to me.
P.S. Isn't every game a measuring stick?

Beal won't be able to play for two weeks due to the IR rules. Ballentine will play as Arizona do a ton of 5 wides.
I honestly thought the Vikings were the measuring stick.
We didn't have Barkley or Tate though.
Even with them, I don't see us being good enough.

There is no way we only put 10 points up with SB comin back against that defense even with Peterson coming back.
The Cards were gifted a win last week when Murray was a half yard short of a first down but given it anyway.

really see how the Cards are a good measuring stick. The Cards suck. The Pats are a good measuring stick, and we found out that we are not close - yet.

Tate played against Minny, you didnt notice because he didnt do anything
No, the Cards are better measuring stick. The Vikings are a Really good measuring stick.
holy shit, every week?
well if we had EE & SS & XX, fuckin' super bowl bound. oh and LB, edge rusher.
Shurmur has to go! Oh, he scripted 4 straight opening drives for scores, ok, he can stay until 10-17-2020 at 4:20pm, then Eli & Tanney take over the coaches room. Man, that room doesn't know what it's in for next year.
my eyes!

Oof. Fair enough.
Anyone thinking this is an 8+ win roster ... I don't see it.

An absolute double threat. The kind of QB we always seem to have loads of trouble with.

Maybe I missed it. Is SB coming back this week?
I get it. But we know the Giants aren't a good team yet. Good teams beat them, even when those teams don't play that well. The question is how close are they to being a good team. Beating a dysfunctional Washington team about to fire its coach didn't really tell us much. If this is team on the rise, i want to see it on the field. I want to see Jones and this offense outscore Murray and his offense. I want to see the defense put together a complete game against a flawed opponent. And I want to see Shurmer outcoach Kingsbury. Otherwise, all this talk of growth and development is just that - talk. if we're not better than this Cardinals team, which basically cut it's first round pick from last year, and fired its coach, and has an offensive line arguably worse than any line the Giants have fielded even in the Flowers/Hart heyday, then something isn't working right.
I want to see how the defense plays this game. Having Murray is another big test for them, rookie or not. He's very mobile and very talented. And the offense, I believe, does not need to get cute, they need to exeCUTE! This game will be about the coaches as I think talent and experience are similar.....
