"I don't want to get into a ... feud with Daryl but I believe he wasn't educated about the situation at hand and he spoke," James said Monday, ahead of the Lakers preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. "So many people could have been harmed, not only financially, but physically, emotionally, spiritually. Just be careful what we tweet and we say and we do, even though, yes, we do have freedom of speech. But there can be a lot of negative that comes with that too."
Shorter LBJ: 'I'm more concerned with $ than human rights & freedom.'
What a weak ass comment from LBJ. Really disappointed with him.

Hypocrite like so many others.
For a guy who so pro equal rights and freedom speech, he sure is a hypocrite.
Yeah. And that comment he made on Morey makes him look bad too.
Maybe when he cant play anymore and he goes to China they can sell his body parts like they do to other people they find useless. Just not his brain as he doesnt have one
That was his statement doing damage control, but you wouldn't be using the words misinformed unless you took issue with what he said.
Its good to know that these social justice warriors have selective interests in issues that suit their agenda. Whod have guessed?
Regards,
Xi Jinping
P.S. When you come back over we can drive around that tank we used at Tiananmen Square to crush the 1989 Democracy Movement
I was merely voicing one thought, based on one interpretation, of one complicated event. I have had a lot of opportunity since that tweet to hear and consider other perspectives.
Basically saying he didnt know enough about the situation to make any remarks.
Whether hes being sincere/candid about that I really have no idea, but it does sound like Lebron is basically just toeing the party line and saying he spoke without being fully informed and therefore his words shouldnt be taken so seriously etc.
I really see no reason for anyone to defend Daryl Morey when he himself has been trying to walk back/take back his comments. Why exert so much energy defending a guys right to say something that he himself is publicly denouncing and walking back? If he were standing by his comments that would be one thing but he himself is literally saying ignore what I said so I dont see why anyone cares to stick up for the guy.
Kaepernick stuck to his guns and didnt walk back or back down from anything he said. Morey immediately did the exact opposite as soon as he realized there was any possibility of financial loss that could result from his statement. No need to get into debating the actual politics of either situation, Im just saying that is a fundamental difference between the 2 people.

Sure. Why would a guy with a CS degree from Northwestern and an MBA from MIT be totally informed.
Morey's cleanup effort wasn't Morey on his own. It was the Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta telling Morey what to write.
At the end of the day, there is too much cash at stake for Fertitta and his fellow NBA owners to have GM with degrees from Northwestern and MIT make such "uninformed" statements...

Lebron wasn't saying this in support of China's policies. He was saying this in support of the players in the NBA who were in china when Morey made these comments. Lebron thought of the worst case scenario that could happen to the players in China and that Morey should have waited until the players were back in America before he tweeted anything out. That's my take on his comments
That was his statement doing damage control, but you wouldn't be using the words misinformed unless you took issue with what he said.
Upon further review...F Lebron indeed. I don't really use social media much, so I didn't know this was the damage control of a previous statement. Looks weak
You can't be on the side of people like this. And if you're not directly on their side you can't portray an image of being on their side either.
Money or not you either have a set of beliefs in your life or you don't.

Well said. I don't like going into politics, but seeing guys like Kerr, Curry, and Lebron puff their chests on several issues, but now go quiet with their business involved shows a lot.
Like most celebrities...very very stupid

👍
It doesn't happen often, but Jason Whitlock is probably somewhat correct:
NBA $8 bill industry - Nike $30+ bill company and huge ties in China and many contracts with NBA
The hypocrisy is thick and nauesating. The Hong Kong rebels wave old glory and sing the national anthem as if anyone in this country gives a rat's for their troubles or the principal of individual liberty which the US is supposedly built on. We don't teach this in school or with our popular media anymore, quite the opposite.
Perhaps at the next NBA event in China the league can celebrate their relationship with China by playing a video of Hong Kong dissidents being brutalized, or Uyghur muslims being sterilized, re-educated and beaten to ensure no dissident thoughts. I thought diversity was a strength and the holy grail of social progress for which to strive for? Quick, tell Lebron to tweet the CCP to remind them, they seem to want a monolithic culture which brooks no dissent.
Way to bend the knee NBA. Dont worry, I doubt Lebron will lose any sleep in his mansion safe in a gated community.
What a time.
Seems to me that you are confusing what Kerr and Popovich actually do. They are asked questions and they answer them. Sorry it doesnt fit your views but they are simply replying to questions. They arent actively campaigning or whatever you are trying to make it seem like. And what do you want them to do about China?
People hate trump, try growing thicker skin and dont let it bother you.
When are the boycott's starting to stop showing the games on TV here in the states?
just to be clear.

Both of you need to abide by the site rules.
But this is an awful look for Lebron and the NBA. The bathroom issue for the Charlotte all star game is so laughable now.
Disgraceful.
Lebron knows goddamned well that his career would be in no danger at all, yet he kowtows. Pathetic.
the timing of Lebron's comments come just as the NBA starts planning for a lower salary cap.
An astonishing 10% of the NBA revenue comes from China, that is an amazing number i had no idea about until this shit storm. And it was their largest growing market, expected to as much as double in the short-term. Now, companies are shifting their money elsewhere - or I imagine even being forced to shift their money elsewhere.
@KeithSmithNBA
Sources told Yahoo Sports that some NBA teams are doing scenario planning for the $116M salary cap for 2020-21 to drop by as much as 15% due to situation between NBA and China. Story is up now @YahooSportsNBA

Well said. Moreys job and livelihood was on the line. He had no choice.
+1 It's all about the Benjamins...
Guy works his entire life to get where he is, I d cut him some slack here. If you hold yourself to such a high standard, as to throw away a career because of speaking out without the understanding the consequences of some similar circumstance, good for you, I doubt you re the norm though.
We all have principals for which we are willing to lose much to defend. But in this case I feel you are holding Morey to an unreasonable standard.
Refusing to double down on that tweet is not something he should throw away his career for, IMO

I never bring up politics and didnt here. Simply letting another poster know that Kerr and Pop answering questions shouldnt hurt his feelings. Also, this entire thread is political, if you want to go down that route.
