Boone to use all relievers in game 4? I read that somewhere and want to see if it’s true. Who would be the opener? Happ? CC?

How is Stanton’s quad injury? Will play? If not can he be replaced on the roster already? I’d rather have another 1B than a hurt OF.

Thoughts?

I will try to find the article

How do we know that Stanton's not telling Boone he's good to go - or even begging to get into the game? You don't think the guy wants to play in the ALCS? Really???

Hicks begged his way onto the roster with a torn elbow tendon, CC's shoulder and knee are held together by duct tape at this point, Didi finished the ALDS last season after blowing out his elbow early in the series. Not a good look for the guy with the biggest contract on the team.

Ehh, not sure that Hicks had a torn UCL - it was inflamed and continued use could have caused damage/tear. And rest was the prescribed treatment. He did rest, it healed maybe a bit faster than the MDs thought. He's back.

If Stanton cannot run, he cannot play. Maybe two days off and the inflammation goes away. Must be close or he'd be replaced. They already said he can pinch hit.

To me, it's just more concerning that Stanton has now had what... 3 separate stints this year where he's played something like 5 or less games and wound up hurt? It's one thing when you get hit with a fastball right in the grill... that's serious shit.

But, this year, he's basically wound up hurt by swinging a bat, running, and sliding. Three things that are required of pretty much every baseball player. It's just frustrating. This is where we need the guy the most and he's not available at the most crucial time.

It just leaves us short-handed. We're already carrying the extra pitcher as it is. Being limited to two bench guys is really not ideal here. Especially when one of them is Romine... who you're only using in case of injury to Sanchez.
A hobbled Stanton is bad news in the LF, but with the way Boone is

talking, I doubt he had to convince Stanton not to play.

Agree with Arc...
Tesla : 10/15/2019 12:58 pm : link
Stanton's injury history this year is EXTREMELY concerning going forward, considering how much we owe this guy over the next 8 years. He's proven on 3 separate occasions that he can't go more than a week without getting injured. He's getting close to Ellsbury/Bird territory.

The only good news is that he hasn't been this injury prone in the past.....but if his body is breaking down now his contract is going to be a hell of an albatross moving forward.
Yeah this is going to be rough on Stanton
Stu11 : 10/15/2019 1:04 pm : link
especially if we come up short. Thing that perplexes me is Gardy back to 3rd and Gleyber 5th. I don't have the batting order obsession that some here have, but that's a head scratcher the way Gleyber has hit in the playoffs. He needs to bat in the first inning for sure and at worst 4th. None of this is based on career #'s vs. Cole because the sample sizes are way too small besides DJ, and if you were caught up on that Maybin would be playing. I'm fine with Hicks playing. He looked comfortable in his only AB and got to play a bit in the field.

I think it's the Yankees call, not Stanton's. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes so I don't think it's fair to say he doesn't want to be in there.

I'm just frustrated by the complete inability to do anything strenuous on a baseball field this season without winding up injured. What kind of preparation is going on?

Boone says he's available off the bench. He also says if it was the regular season he'd go to the IL. So I'm just a bit confused by the whole situation. And if he's truly available, he should be in there at DH.

Whatever, frustrated to be dealing with this yet again but we've got a game to win. Hopefully it's a moot point
Remember, Stanton can opt-out after next season

Yeah, injury-riddled underperformers typically opt-out of lucrative contracts.

Funny how Bleedblue isn't here now but you can be damn sure at the first sign of something not going our way tonight, he'll be chiming in.

I'm right here dude.

I don't know why you guys think about me so much. I'm flattered really.

Truth is....I just speak facts. I am sorry if you don't like hearing the fact that if we can't get much from our starters we won't win.
I am a realist. I will be rooting as hard as all of you and I have confidence in the lineup and pen, but the SP leaves alot to be desired. I think tonight is going to be insanely tough game to win(part of reason I was so pissed he lost game 2).
I am not going to blow the team no matter how they play. It's so funny because I was first to say Didi, sanchez, EE look lost at plate and like 5 of you jumped on me calling me names and shit like 5 year olds. Then about 10+ people said it after me....and NOBODY gave them shit. I've coached baseball for 15+ years. It's obviously those 3 aren't having good ABs and they need to change approach. I was encouraged by sanchezs last AB though as it seemed he was seeing the ball better.

Again...it's not whining, it's calling it like I see it, sorry if it hurts your feelings but I don't wear Rose colored glasses. The Yanks starting pitching will prob be the reason they don't win if they lose. That being said if that's what happens i will root hard as hell and hope they get Cole in off-season.

All that aside...go Yankees!

I'm not gonna rehash all the bs from the other night but it certainly was whining. You came into the thread not an hour into the game shitting on the Yanks and saying how the Stros would win the WS.

There were no facts involved at all in that post. Just negative bullshit while most of us here were trying to be positive and enjoy the game. Others voiced opinions on moves but your posts were more than that and you saying you were "only" posting facts isn't 100% true no matter how many times you say it.

It was my opinion Houston will be in WS and the fact they made two strong moves for starters is my reasoning....I'm allowed to an opinion.
I also think they have more hope that Hicks
Stu11 : 10/15/2019 1:14 pm : link
may run into one of Cole's high fastballs. Maybin's 4 hits vs. Cole have been singles so who knows there could be some bleeders or bloops int here.
surprised they don't just DH Stanton for the game

Begging into the game? LOL. There was a report that after the game he played he went into the trainers room and told a trainer that his quad hurts. So, I'm going to go with a no on that one, dawg.

Not hearsay. It was discussed on the Kay show yesterday.

Hmm, I did not see it in any of the reports in writing. But if Kay said it, it must be so.

I know Reggie was pretty ticked.

Boone told the media today Stanton "wants it pretty bad." You guys honestly think he doesn't want to play in the ALCS???

I don't think he's a pussy, but he's not exactly 'begging into the game' as someone else put it, either, which is fine. But the fact that everytime this guy comes back, a few games later he injures something else, is very, very odd at this point. It's happened numerous times this season.
If he's hurt
Kyle in NY : 10/15/2019 2:13 pm : link
then he has to tell them. Especially considering they've been relying on him to play LF. It's irresponsible for him to not say something. I have little doubt he wants to be in there.

I just don't understand why he can't seem to play 5-10 games without getting hurt running the bases. It is truly infuriating. I think if he's anywhere close to capable of playing they should put him in there. But that ain't my call
We're not in these conversations
Kyle in NY : 10/15/2019 2:14 pm : link
We have no clue whether he's begging to get in the game or not.

Why?
If Stanton
Carson53 : 10/15/2019 2:35 pm : link
is not ready for Game 4, just move on to the next man.
You can't play a man short, and most especially this time
of the year. Fat chance anybody would take on another
EIGHT YEARS of that contract! For all the good moves
the GM has made, don't forget about Ellsbury, Stanton,
and Hicks as well. All bad contracts, just saying.

If Wednesday is rained out, he'd be on regular rest on Thursday. I could actually see them go with Paxton there since he didn't throw much on Sunday night and giving Masa the extra days rest and pitch him on Friday.

Paxton's short outing should make him available on Thursday I would think... I'd definitely consider starting him on 3 DR or working him into that game if tomorrow gets rained out. He only threw 51 pitches.

Agree.
