[10:18 AM, 10/15/2019] King Danny: wow.XFL Salaries Reportedly Revealed
By Daniel Yanofsky | October 15, 2019

With the AAF out of business and the league starting after the NFL's latest season ends, there are plenty of questions surrounding the pay of the players about to sign onto the XFL. According to ProFootballTalk, agents received a memo stating the average player will make $55,000 a year.

To put that into perspective, players from the NFL make around $495,000. The Action Network's Darren Rovell went on to say that guaranteed pay on a standard XFL contract is $1,040 per week, while the maximum will be $4,947. In addition, quarterbacks will be making more than the NFL rookie minimum.

you need to know about "our" first rounder

Analysis: As a senior at Purdue, DeAngelo Yancey was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection at wide receiver and was selected by Green Bay in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Jets and Titans in addition to the Packers. Yancey was drafted primarily as a vertical receiver as he developed a more nuanced skill set for the short to intermediate passing game. He was deployed equally from the slot as well as the perimeter during his stint with the Packers, utilized as a field-stretcher where he was primarily targeted 15+ yards downfield.
2nd round, another WR
DanMetroMan : 10/15/2019 10:33 am : link
Guardians Mekale McKay WR Cincinnati
Analysis: Mekale McKay collected 25 receptions for 494 yards and two touchdowns as a senior at Cincinnati. He signed with the Colts after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, spending time with six different NFL teams and a stint in the AAF. McKay is a big-bodied perimeter target with above average height, ideal length, and decent muscle mass. He displays very good play strength with a particularly strong upper body.

Wait, a team took Connor Cook when they already had a QB? Why wasn't Cook "assigned"?

I'm assuming they didn't have it in their budget but they should have thrown huge #'s at Tebow and Kaepernick.

I'm guessing based on how quickly the AAF folded they're looking at lean and mean, not trying to grab some extra eyeballs with sideshows like those two.

I don't see it lasting more than a season, though I hope I'm wrong, I'd actually like more football (especially if it's off cycle with the NFL).
I don't like that it starts the week after the SB

I think a month or so between NFL and XFL would let people get excited about football again after a month of withdrawal. Back to back seems like a bad idea.

I think it will do
jvm52106 : 10/15/2019 11:25 am : link
ok and as long as they can make the game more the way we are used to- less BS reviews, less penalties and concentrate on football this will be ok.

I like thge idea of a league in the Spring and I hope it does well.

Even Manziel would add a little intrigue. If they want to go big they should offer a young college QB who is ineligible for the 2020 draft a few million to be the face of the league.

They should try to grab that QB from the Houston that just redshirted this season.

Kaepernick can't play the victim if he's playing in that league.

Didn't the AAF reach out to Kaepernick about joining their league, and Kaep asked for some ridiculous salary?

Yes, Oliver Luck (the commissioner) said he asked for $20MM (which is reportedly the same salary he asked for from the AAF).

I've been thinking the same for months. With all the 'Tanking For Tua' talk, imagine if Miami does just that, but Vince McMahon offers Tua a hell of a lot more than the NFL pays first rounders?

Murray (last years #1) received 35 million guaranteed. I know it's not my money but I have to assume a guy like Tua would take that (and the built-in endorsements etc) then a silly offer from McMahon. Granted, he could always take the coin, have the league fold in a season and laugh all the way to the bank but I doubt he cares to be a sideshow and I doubt there are THAT MANY people who would tune in just to see him play.
