The Miracle Mets became World Series Champions. I was only 5 and barely remember but as a Met fan enjoy the nostalgia around that season.

I snuck into Shea and ran around the field

All the local kids knew how to do it.

Save a piece of turf.

I became a Met fan for life. Some ups, lots of downs... never boring.

I was there too, as a fan, on the field after the game. Then in '86, I was on the field again, working for MLB. I wonder how many others could say the same thing.

thee ticket stub to prove. Of course as a Yankees fan I rooted for the American League team until the guy next to my dad said "tell the little kid (I was 7) to shut up" - he used a few other words I didn't understand yet.

it was game three and Tommy Agee made those three spectacular catches. Was a senior high school.
Hard to believe it's been 50 years.

Makes me feel old when childhood memories meet the half century mark.

Those were some fun teams to be a fan of as a boy. I became a fan of the Mets around 67/68 and then they win the series in 69 and go to another one in 73. At the time it sure felt like they were building a winning tradition for years to come but boy was that wrong. They struggle for a few years, trade Seaver and the wheels came off. But even with all the losing some of the most fun I have ever had attending sporting events was at Shea. Even when losing those older Mets were easy and fun to root for.

That was a good day
