The NFL has a player tracking system that can measure things like defender distance, and they have a stat that measures how often a QB attempts a pass fit into a tight window. The stat is defined as the amount of passing attempts a quarterback makes where there is a defender within 1 yard or less of the receiver at the time of completion or incompletion. Just over 31% of Jones' passing attempts have been thrown into tight coverage, which ranks first among all QBs.
That could say some things about the Giants' receivers' ability to generate separation from defenders, Jones' style of play in general, the scheme, ect. Something else to take into consideration when evaluating Jones' performance after four starts.
SB should force Ds into more 8 man box Cover 1s and 3s. DJ8 should not have been fooled by Little Bills disguised coverages, no reason for him to play run against Hilliman. Bad coaching by shemur.
Independence Bowl last season against Temple (without Rock Ya Sin) would be an example that could be looked at for Duke receivers getting good separation. Jones was 30-41, 5 TD's.
He still had 2 picks and don't remember the details of the picks. Ever since I've watched him (4 years), he's always pushed it. Someone's gonna have to rein him in if they want that adjusted. Eventually he'll figure this out anyway.

Give Shaq Barrett the money
Draft OT1 or 2 or WR1 or 2
He's a confident QB... Better receivers and he's a prince
It's too bad because it really sounds like they're on the same page when they speak.
Very good question. I think DJ has a propensity to just take the first read and go with it. When perhaps their is a better option with a better read/more patience...

It's easier said than done when you're going against the best defense in football and Jon Hilliman is your RB...
With Barkley, it's a different story. But, I can't blame the coach for not being able to establish the run these last couple of games. The downgrade from Hilliman to Barkley is humongous.
And I hate to blame Hilliman... the guy is doing his best. He's just not good. On top of it, he's been a fumbling factory.
Guess I haven't had enough coffee yet.

Well our WR's definitely aren't getting separation, but there is some truth there. He trusts his pre snap reads a ton and his incredible arm kind of masks the problem a bit. That third pick he threw against the Pats you could almost seeing him going oh shit as he lets the ball go.

do you have a link to the QB list?

Thanks!
Now having said that, we have played two of the best defenses in the nfl the past two weeks so I’m sure that counts for something. Let’s see how we do (getting separation) while playing Arizona and Lions. I know Peterson is back, but he can’t cover all 3 WRs and the TE.
Let’s give Danny boy some nice targets fellows.
Now Shurmur a WCO guy so I cant be surprised, but this approach does help get separation when your WRs are overmatched.
And yes, play action gets wrs open, can get, you pair it w certain routes deep and throw middle if that makes any sense.
Also, outside runs especially quick outside zone runs, if effective, that buys your qb more time and space, which gives your wrs or whomever more time to get open . Also, corners who lack discipline , thinking here comes a freight train, loose coverage.
*Longer developing routes/deeper drops (WRs have more time to get open)
Those things get in the head of cornerbacks as well for the 3rd element, the pass.
CB looks back to see qb/rb running free on 1st down, 2nd down cb looks back, ball sail's over his head.
Not to bash Eli but Eli would have been massacred already. He can’t make the throws Jones can.
