and no one called up to replace him? Don't get me wrong I appreciate the confidence in the guys but this is one of those decisions that haunts a manager if we don't win the series.

Who are you replacing him with that will have an impact on the series? Anyone who takes his spot is a pinch runner.

Sadly I think this is the biggest reason they are staying the course - we don't have anyone who profiles as better than Hicks or Edwin in the lineup and no reliever that we are likely to want to use.
If anyone on our infield goes down, we have Romine replacing them. If Stanton isn't starting in this series, i'd have rather had Wade on the 25 as insurance and pinch running.
How does he not give it a go? Is he available to pinch hit? Reports are he was running in the outfield looking okay...
there are some videos on Twitter. He looked "ok" but it was a very light jog and he wasn't opening it up at all.
I remember the days when how fast Babe Ruth ran to first wasn't something worth complaining about. Remember it like it was just yesterday I do.
For the record - DJ sucks at hitting doubles, Judge sucks at getting on base, Torres sucks at getting timely hits with RISP, Edwin sucks at getting two-homer games, Gardner sucks at stealing bases, Gary sucks at being the best defensive catcher in the ALCS, Gio sucks at 3 rbi games and Didi sucks at hitting triples. Tanaka really sucks at going 7 innings when he starts.

Insurance for what? If someone gets hurt and can’t play you can replace him.
You’d really rather have a on the bench to maybe pinch run or Stanton get healthy enough to play at the end of the series?

When is the end of the series? Game 5 or Game 7? I'd rather have him in the lineup and I'd like to know why he isn't good enough to DH in the most important game of the season. I've seen nothing from Edwin that gives me more confidence in him at DH.
You’d really rather have a on the bench to maybe pinch run or Stanton get healthy enough to play at the end of the series?
I would. There's already been one situation where a pinch running substation was called for. We didn't get the hit we needed, so ultimately it didn't matter, but a single there with a pinch runner in, and the Yanks win game 2. Or a bench bat who can actually come in to at least pinch hit. This series has been pretty close, I think an incremental roster improvement is worth it at the cost of losing whatever Stanton might be able to give for a potential WS. Obviously it's hardly a big improvement in our chances to win this series to add Wade or Ford or Tauchman, and it gets smaller each game they wait. But I don't think it needs to be a big improvement to nonetheless be a worthwhile change. (The decision to add a pitcher this round really hurts now).
yeah it would be. But that’s how this has shaken up, they need to deal with it. We haven’t been dealt a good hand all season, I didn’t expect to start getting breaks now.
the worst that happens he misses the rest of the playoffs which he likely will miss anyway. He is a slow healer. If he crushes one he can walk the bases.
Nationals terrify me with those arms. But I don't think that is our immediate issue
Will be on a flight with no tv for majority of game Â

Yeah I don't understand why he's not DH'ing. EE's at bats have been hideous. If Stanton tears the quad while running the bases so be it, he'll have the whole offseason to heal. But there may only be two games left in our season, not sure what they are waiting for.
Disappointing not having Stanton in there. Don't know what else to say at this point.
Stanton’s inability to stay on the field is an issue for the offseason...tonight we roll with the guys who got us here. Let’s go Yanks!!

Yes. You do have to make it to the world series for that to be an issue of course.
Let's be honest, the Nationals aren't scaring anyone. This WS is very very winnable.
Yes. If he is replaced on the roster, he wouldn't be eligible for the WS.
Yeah, he’s done for the playoffs if he’s removed. They must feel he’s close.

with injury, doesn't he have to miss the World Series too?

If he isn't pinch hitting at some point tonight and/or playing tomorrow, it was a complete waste of a roster spot.
Looking at you Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Encarnacion

Well hopefully they won't need a PH the rest of the way.

Tonight's KC/Den, no? Can't imagine that's going to warrant a lot of flipping back and forth to.
Yes I believe so
