Callahan says of Ereck Flowers “he’s come a long way in a short period of time... he could be one of the top guards in the league.” My two cents: the angst that he would be a big issue was misplaced. He’s been fine and at times good. Far from the issue on O
Shanahan will have no mercy on them this weekend
“Shanahan was asked Wednesday about playing Washington: Would he take special satisfaction in beating his former franchise? He said there wouldn’t be extra juice, but his answer referenced the past turmoil.
“No, not at all,” Shanahan said. “That was a while ago. I’ve been (with) three different (teams) since. My dad retired and he’s good.
He’s accepted what we had to deal with there and we’ve moved on. Watch other people deal with it.”
However, former wide receiver Santana Moss, who spent four seasons with Kyle Shanahan in Washington, expects Shanahan to be eager to pour it on Sunday.
“Just knowing how he exited with his dad in that style, I’m sure they’re not going to hold back,” Moss said Monday on 106.7 The Fan in Washington. “I hope these guys know — on the defensive side — what’s ahead of us and be ready for it. Because Kyle Shanahan’s coming and he’s not holding nothing back.”

"Nice delivery my little puppet."
Flowers saw himself as an offensive tackle. He wanted no part of being a guard. Also remember that flowers was looking to cash in on offensive tackle money. Its possible that flowers has been a bit humbled by his release from the giants as well as the Jaguars and I suspect that not many teams came knocking on his door this past offseason.
Could be but, I thought I read reports that he did not want to play anywhere but left tackle?
I get the feeling that by the time he washed out at RT, he had more than worn out his welcome, so trying him at a third spot would have been too much turmoil.

Yup, that is how I recall the situation. However, the prospect of unemployment has a way of opening doors that you would prefer to leave closed normally.
Real problem was Flowers didn’t want to move. RT was sort of a last chance compromise as far as the Giants were concerned.
Too bad the way it all worked out.
So he would still be an albatross on this team. Getting rid of albatrosses is good

Guys - I was only kidding with the post. The only thing I despised more than Flowers when he played for the Giants were the threads here suggesting he had turned a corner, or not allowed a sack in 5 consecutive games or some other defender nonsense...
