This was mentioned briefly in the game thread but the comments were absurd enough to call them out separately.
“I know if I was 22,” Alex Rodriguez said on Fox, referring to Gleyber Torres, “and I came and I see the lineup and every day it’s a different lineup, I would be discouraged. I would be crushed and disappointed before the game. He looked lost (Thursday), and that’s too bad.” |
He would be crushed and disappointed to be moved to the cleanup spot? He's still crushed Torre batted him 9th. This is not even close to the same situation. Moron.

Fuck A-Rod.
Gleyber has had 10+ games where he's 5th, 4th, 6th, 7th, 3rd, and 8th in the order this year. The most games he's been at one batting order position is 35 in the 5th spot.
This is what Boone has done all year long.
Torres has been our best hitter in the post season why not put him in the spot where he will see the most at bats?
Also, I don't know what Boone could have done about it but the Parrot,Sanchez, and Gardner have looked lost at the plate.

Dude, A-Rod's really not going to like that.
Sorry but at this point Tampa put up a better showing than the Yankees have.
Boone’s lineups have been bizarre but that is not the reason Astros are up
Generally, he reads way more into the psychological effects of decisions more than necessary, but that's also because he played the game in that manner-- obsessing over trying to outsmart the opposing pitcher and being affected psychologically by every managerial decision.
By and large, it served him well as he is an all-time great player. People forget just how otherworldly he was in his Mariners/Rangers days as arguably the best defensive shortstop in the league (with Adam Eaton as Vizquel started to age) and a great hitter.
But I disagree with him here. I don't think lineup moves are as important.
In fact, there have been a lot of analytical studies done suggesting that lineups are not being optimized by managers but even if they were, they wouldn't have that much of an impact on a team's success.
Yeah, Arod sucked in big moments.
