Been reading for years on BBI that Engram is ready to dominate. He gives great effort on his blocking, but he still isn't good. And as a pass-catching TE, he drops an awful lot of passes. He's not a bust, but he certainly hasn't lived up to his draft slot.
He'll always be Evan "Not Ramczyk" Engram. Reese knew we desperately needed to address the OL. He chose the shiny toy instead of a building block on the OL.
Two, even with the drops, the Cardinals are THE WORST at covering TE’s. He was targeted a total of 5 times. How was he not a bigger part of the game plan from this coaching staff? Did they even know the Cards sucked at covering TE’s?

This is what drove me nuts. Sure he had the two drops but how was he not a bigger part of the game plan?? Honestly I thought that Shurmur did deserve another year but I can no longer justify keeping him around after yet another game filled with questionable calls and clock management.
He's been pretty inconsistent. He's got great speed, but for a fast Â
player, he doesn't separate that well. His hands aren't that good either. He's always capable of a big game, but doesn't do it every week. His blocking won't ever be great, but he has worked hard to improve it to the point where it's not too bad.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old cat who didn't get his meal yet tonight but I am SO tired of hearing every week going into a game how this guy needs to step it up and he's going to be this big target. Yeah, he came off an injury.
Still no excuse for this coaching staff to not game plan for a weakness nearly every team they’ve played has taken advantage of. There’s only two things I can think of as to why, 1) gross negligence re: game planning or 2) hubris in thinking they could beat them another way.
Neither of those scenarios are acceptable.
RE: If he could catch and block he'd be a good TE Â
Ebron has huge games and disappears others. Nature of the beast with these guys. He's not Kelce or Ertz.
Evan Engram has more receiving yards, touchdowns, and the same amount of receptions as Ertz while also having a higher average yards per reception despite playing in 1 less game.
I'm as frustrated as anyone after today's performance but trying to suggest Engram is a bad player is absurd. I guess we will just pretend that he wasn't playing with a knee injury.
Right through his fingers, Tate had a few of them as well, why single out Engram. Guy is roughing out a a knee injury and had one of his eyes swollen shut after it was poked in. Engram is a stud, enough of the nonsense.
has been hurt just as much if not more so. He was out today
He played today. Aikman was talking about how great he is. Did he get hurt?
Who cares? The argument is moot anyway because, it’s only being made in hindsight.
There are literally hundreds of arguments to be made when it comes to the draft and who could’ve been picked. It’s just as ridiculous and futile as imagining what you would do if you won the lottery.

Everyone was hot on him. And TE was a strong need. At the time, Engram was considered a reach. In hindsight, we could consider ourselves fortunate at the production we've gotten especially in relation to Njoku who has played more games and has significantly less impressive numbers.
Physically. I never saw what happened to him but did see him on the ground, very slow to get up, sitting there worrying at his eye or eyes and pretty wobbly. What was that all about? Finger in the eye? Something else?
Why doesn't he were gloves, like every reciever? Â

Who said he is a bad player? He's a different player than Kelce or Ertz (who caught 116 passes last season) and is not going to be a consistent 8 catch 80 yard guy every game. Doesn't mean he's not useful and he's going to have a huge games.
RE: Maybe if the Giants would stop throwing him 2 yard crossing routes Â
He needs to play better but he is a talented player. Everybody sucked today. He was playing hurt and I’m sure he thought he was getting lit up on that go route.

Barkley also ran backwards a couple times, once after catching a screen pass, cost them a lot of yards.
That is high school stuff, can't do that in the NFL.
I think he was trying to do too much, after a layoff.
He also missed a couple blocks in pass blocking,
that might have been a result of rust or not playing for a month.

Yeah, this seems a little odd to me as everyone said he was a stud just a couple of weeks ago before he got hurt.
He needs some sort of gloves playing in the rain. He couldn't catch shit with his hands bare.
To your original point, he isn't a bust.
Rain rain go away

Giants coaching has sucked all his years

Maybe he'll always be injured and not 100%.
WTH knows.
Whole team was a letdown today.
Sy's studs should have no one on the list.

But yeah, fuck it, hes a bust. Why isn't he?
Well, that's a good point. I mean catching the ball is a part of his job.

And not get hurt...
It was a knee injury not concussion.

not everybody looks at in hindsight...
My son and I were screaming to anyone....to get him football gloves

I really think you are right but a real seem route takes maybe 3 seconds and the Oline is only giving 2 - 2.5.
I believe the total failure of the Oline not blocking is the key reason this team has been crappy for years.
Also known as the 128catch 1280yard Tight End.

No hindsight. Plenty were pissed with the pick during the draft and that we didn't draft an OT.
He is injury prone and inconsistent with his hands.
