Giants are turning the ball over and not forcing turnovers. Turnover differential is always a key stat.

How do you end up 2-5 and near the bottom of the NFC?
-- Giants lead the NFL with 18 turnovers, 3 more than any other team. Have 2nd-worst TO differential at minus-10.
-- Have a point differential of minus-55. Average loss is by 15.4 points. Barely even competitive.
But you still need to play the kid to find out if his is truly the future. Hope he fixes it, but only time will tell. Don't follow college FB, but I read he had turn over issues at Duke.

He didn't have a fumbling problem at Duke. He was middle of the road there, which is pretty impressive when you think about how many games he played with absolute talent differentials. This shit where he can't feel front side pressure needs to be fixed. Way too many fumbles there, hopefully he cleans that up, and it is something we have seen rookies clean up before, bu it is no guarantee.
a meh pass rush, inexperience all over on D, and a general bewilderment of running the D scheme makes for lack of turnovers on D.
a coaching staff that may, or may not, have good schemes, but we don't know because there seems to be an inability to teach it and get the players to execute it.
No relief in sight. We were hoping the units would gel with experience, but so far, no sign of that happening.
Long developing plays, little creativity and way out of balance run/pass. How about boot/rolls where he makes simpler reads and passes, runs or just throws it away? Help this kid out!
Baldy may have been on to something with lack of separation issues but could Shurmur's scheme be a bigger part?
he is mobile so let's use that more, and not just on broken plays... let's move the pocket, let's utilize quicker throws, lets commit to the run.
all things that would alleviate some of the pressure he is under right now.

I can't speak for everybody but he's making mistakes I expected him to make his rookie year. It was apparent in 6 quarters of preseason football that this was an issue that he would have to work through and it's something the can only be corrected with game experience.
Whats the saying "Its the economy stupid"? Well "It's the Scheme stupid". Shurmur sucks.
Good point. They play so far off the receivers most plays are a completion unless they drop it. Was mentioned yesterday by the announcers how soft the DB's play off the receivers and Banks has mentioned it too. I don't get it.

Agree again. I kept saying yesterday why don't they move him out of the pocket more. Oline was struggling and he was holding the ball too long. Help him out. Move him.
Stats right now are almost as useless as Raanan himself.
Jones passes the eye test. He has *it*.
... and Jones right now, is still better or at least equal to Eli right now...
No one can deny Jones has way too many fumbles and has thrown a few bad interceptions...
...but IDK, maybe I was the only one that expected a rookie QB, playing behind a dog-shit OL, to have his share if turnovers.
Yes, and the fumbling doesn't bother me. That can be corrected.
I can't find the tweet, but I saw one before the game that said he was getting pressured on 32.1% of his dropbacks. That was before yesterday. So I imagine it's even worse now. No other QB was above 30%.
I also read he was pressured on 22 of his 35 pass attempts. Not including the 8 sacks. So he was pressured or sacked 30 times on 47 drop backs. No QB in the league will succeed with that kind of pressure.
DJ can’t feel pressure, he makes some head scratching decisions with the football and he’s running for his life behind a shitty O line. The receivers are okay but the play design sucks ass.
We have no pass rushers and our team speed on defense is pathetic. I don’t think we have a single plus player on defense this season and I know we don’t have any playmakers.
The Giants suck ass all around. Again...

No he didn't have turnover issues at Duke. I think you're confusing Jones with Sam Darnold who had fumbling/int's issues in college.
Gotta be in the area code of the play to force a turnover. The amount of free space for runners and receivers is absolutely astonishing. I still watch a lot of NFL games outside of the Giants and never see the amount of absolute broken plays by other teams where defenders are no where near the play; and this has been happening now for the better half of a decade.
I have no doubt Amendola would be leagues better than any of our receivers.
The TD throw was another bad decision. There was no window there the safety misplayed the ball and the man. He got caught fantasizing about how his 99 yard int return will change the game. It was a brutal play by that cardinals player and should have been a pick.

Markus Golden has been very good.
We are worst in the league in receiver separation. Jones is waiting too long because no one is open. He is turning the ball over because he is always playing from behind. When you are behind, you have to take chances or you are just accepting a loss. The running game has not been good and the protection is below average. Tough spot.

and the receivers got 0 separation so I don't blame Jones. That TD throw was amazing and he had like a 2 foot window to work with. This entire team sucks from top to bottom.

exactly. i couldn't believe he threw that pass. he was very lucky there.

Ellison was the most lucky
That S was in a position to end his day
It's because belichick is highly competent. Players will try to be excellent when they believe in what the coach is selling. Pat Shurmur hasn't done anything in this league.
The Patriots have it right with Belichick wearing the HC and GM hats. That's a model I much prefer. But that's completely incompatible with the "Giants Way" model.
There are qualities about the Patriots to admire and try to mirror. But you always come up short because they have two human beings - Belichick and Brady - who are savants. And as a football duo, will likely never been seen again in the next 100 years of playing professional football...

Golden is tenacious, which is why he gets so many coverage sacks. But as of now, he is a bit slow and lacks top end explosion. Perhaps he is not healthy yet, but as of now he looks like a really good second end. You need one on each side.... We still need a top end pass rusher who can strike fear in an o coordinator's head, but pare him with an alpha like that and watch his production explode.
That’s probably because he was a one step drop and throw like Brady at Duke most of the time
He needs to realize how quick the game is played in the NFL. D's are so fast he has to know he's gonna get rocked if he holds it too long. Just throw it away instead of holding it beyond three seconds.
