Francesca shot his shot to early. This would have been gold today watching Shurmur try to defend himself. Francesca did have a point about the guys cancelling his show getting fired that when he made it at the time, I thought it was crazy. Well unless Shurmur turns this ship around he may be right.
As soon as they gave the team to Daniel, the season was no longer about winning. Shurmur must have thought that would buy him another year. Don’t count on it.

i think the decision came from the giants, shurmur was just following orders. mike had been openly hostile to gettleman and to the giants for about a year prior to that interview and it had gotten to the point that he was acting like a disrespectful bully. not saying i agree with their decision to pull the plug on shurmur's spot, but there was more to it than shurmur getting upset and cancelling the spot himself.

Sometimes you ask "stupid" questions with "obvious" answers because you need a quote.
Like asking the question "Are you considering benching Daniel Jones?" Because even if it's obvious they're staying with Jones, you need Shurmur to say so.
Answer: "No, he's our quarterback going forward, and we still feel he gives us the best chance to win."
So now you have asked the question and have an answer that you can include in your story.
look at both sides. He just got sacked 8 times. That's not really a learning situation.
The kid is very inexperienced. But now he has seen live fire and has a better sense of the game than he did a month ago. Standing on the sideline letting Eli take the beating for a couple of games may not be the worse thing. It gives DJ a break, a breather and there is still plenty for him to learn which can be done holding a clipboard.
He comes back later. A little older, a little wiser, and a little healthier. It's not the most terrible thing in the world. Getting demolished every week has destroyed a lot of young QBs. Just sending him out there to be abused should be avoided (see David Carr.)
