Edge or a true DE stud....are the key to the defense

All other pieces are pretty interchangeable

Lawrence would thrive in a 4-3.

Connerly would fit in fine as mlb if he can hold up

Corners are developing

You need to be in a 3-4 defense. Pass happy league you need the edge rushers. We play a hybrid defense. We are not truly a 3-4 team. If you noticed last week vs Arizona we played with 2 down lineman a lot and 2 edge guys which in essence is a 4-3 with “light” ends one of the reasons we got steam rolled on the ground. Reminded me of the time when the giants went into indy with 2 DTs and got their ass kicked.

Org has in last few years. It's all or nothing. It makes it a total disarray

...Pat Shurmur will be fired at the end of this season. Bettcher and just about everyone else will be shown the door as well.

Going into the season, I though Shurmur was a lock for year three.

Not so sure anymore, but I agree about all or nothing.

If Shurmur stays, I think it's best to keep Shula and Bettcher and reboot the following year if necessary.

and hires a new coach letting us pounce on Richard.

Sorely needs Linebackers

I don't think Bettcher's been doing a great job thus far, but I'm not sure what you can expect him to do with no pass rushers, lousy linebackers, mediocre or worse safeties, Jenkins and a DB corps that's either inexperienced, no good, or both.

NO, you keep the trouble makers and the loafs? Who did they get rid of that was so good? Collins, probably but he is a small LB, not a safety. Carter and Golden with better numbers than OV. 3-4 requires talented LB corps. Gianst are missing Connelly mre than people realize.

We've been talking about next year's FA crop - wonder if Bud Dupree is worth a look?

Most promising young LB out. No edge rusher. XMan and Skippar will hhelp but they're underdeveloped and will take the full seaosn and an off season to really see what they have. Next year FA and draftsome talent. Need one dynamic edge rusher. I think secondary is just growing pains - would like to see a better FS.

Connely looks like a gem, hopefully this is his only big injury.

Most of our big plays are due to poor LB positioning and athleticism.

If we can get some solid starters and depth, this defense is much better.

The DL is getting better and better, and the DB's are solid (although Bethea needs to go and take Haley with him).

I don't see Bettcher going anywhere.

Yikes. Pretty sad that the best pick there is probably DeOssie and he's the longsnapper....

Getting rid of a good coach because of poor results when the talent is the issue seems silly to me.

Shurmur has to be fired before Bettcher. If it's the other way round, then we know Mara is part of the problem.
