...Giants are currently at #8. Three biggest needs (according to Dan Parr at NFL.com) are Edge pass rusher, DB and WR.
Edge, of course we are desperate. DB only if he's talking about Free Safety. WR is not a Top 3 need when you consider our problems at OT and ILB.
In any event, the Giants of today are wading through the same swamp of the 1960s (post-1963). The only difference is that the idiots back then kept trading away high draft picks whereas today we at least have held on to ours.
And make no mistake about it. The Draft is the only thing we now have going for us since we will end up with a Top 5 selection.

Keep losing. A side benefit could be the termination of Shurm.
Precisely!
True, but I'm not sure that will do it for him this year. I think 2020 is more realistic unless there's a must-have coaching candidate out there this year.
Detroit doesn't belong in that group. Not sure the Bucs do either.
Miami will have the first pick. Then it's the Bengals. After that you have both New York sides (yes, really!), Washington and Atlanta. We could be picking anywhere from 3 to 7.
Detroit was outright robbed of a victory by the officiating in the Packers game. And I hate to bring this up, but the Giants only beat the Bucs because Tampa Bay missed a sitter of a field goal.
This is because they are including wins and losses already accumulated by future opponents in calculating the Giants SOS. NFL content does not - for example, they are not including the losses the Dolphins have so far.
Gettleman and Shurmur should get raises...
Hard to say in the Giants case. Tankathon is including games that are already in the books by our future opponents so it reflects all the games counting towards the Giants SOS, and should be a better indicator of an eventual tiebreaker. But in the Giants case, since the SOS for the future opponents is significantly lower, it gives the Giants a chance to accumulate some wins again weaker teams and perhaps move down in the draft.
The good news is that it appears as though there will be top 5 to ten talent at a position we have a need for.
The bad news is that's because we have a need for top 5-10 talent at nearly every position.
