CBS Sports mock draft

barens : 10/22/2019 9:15 am
I know these mocks are silly for a lot of reasons, but I posted this one for two reasons, one, though probably a pipedream, Chase Young would be fantastic, and two, has anyone here heard of the #9 pick? Josh Jones, OT from Houston? I follow college football, but never heard of this guy. I know there's a big college football/scouting community on BBI, anyone watch this guy?
CBS 2020 mock draft - ( New Window )
Not silly at all for a basement dweller like we have...
M.S. : 10/22/2019 9:23 am : link

...keep the Mock Drafts coming!

We gotta get excited about something!
Unfortunately, aftet losing to Arizona....this.all we have left
George from PA : 10/22/2019 9:32 am : link
That is the position I want....Chase Young. If he is the next Nick Bosa....do it.
At this point, Chase Young looks like a very good pick,
Ira : 10/22/2019 9:45 am : link
but if he continues to play this well, he may be one of the first players taken.
If QB's don't push everyone down and we can't get Thomas
Bill L : 10/22/2019 9:50 am : link
I want Jeudy.

In fact, screw it...I just want Jeudy.
No way
NikkiMac : 10/22/2019 9:54 am : link
The dolphins and bengals didn’t tank for a non QB
Young, Jeudy, Delpit, Thomas
jeff57 : 10/22/2019 9:56 am : link
Those are the top 4 forme.
I'm not sure if Delpit should be
barens : 10/22/2019 10:01 am : link
considered that high, he hasn't exactly blown me away this year. I think when all is said and done, Isaiah Simmons from Clemson is going to be a top 5, definitely at worst top 10 pick.

He's a physical specimen who can play multiple positions, he's going to crush the combine, and his play on the field backs it up.
Chase Young
Archer : 10/22/2019 10:16 am : link
Young would be a great fit.
He plays the run, sets the edge, and rushes the passer.
He is a three down end, who can play in a 3/4 or a 4/3.
Young can play inside which adds another dimension.
He is 6'-5" 265 lbs and leads college football in sacks.

He also comes from a good family and has a great work ethic.

Pray Tua/Eason/Herbert/Fromm play and test well leading to the draft. Ideally, 2-3 of those guys drop to the 5-7 range in the 1st round. Hope we're on the clock and have a chance to nab an elite EDGE, LT, or WR at a position of need. Young will most likely be a top 3/4. Jeudy and Thomas are realistic.
Mock drafters do not seem to be chess players
Bob in Newburgh : 10/22/2019 11:20 am : link
or they are always fighting the last war.

If DG is still GM, and MG is re-signed, the only way we premium draft an ER is if he is viewed as a generational talent, not just best of that year's positional group.

At some point, an organization has to trust its development ability, and we have other glaring needs (OT, FS, ILB, OC) where we have not invested in premium athletic talent.

Oh God, why would they do that? I hope they lose complete faith in their development ability, so much so that they address it by purging all coaches.
I'm with Santa
lugnut : 10/22/2019 11:53 am : link
The point is, we CAN'T trust our development ability. Name the last player that got better under Giants tutelage.
Jeudy would be an all time mistake
Tuckrule : 10/22/2019 12:02 pm : link
If we are near the top. You do not take the shiny toy when we can’t fucking protect BOTH OUR PRIZE POSESSIONS. Saquon and jones. This is exactly what got us into this mess and all you guys want a WR. Fucking amazing.
Justin Herbert
GFiLA : 10/22/2019 12:36 pm : link
gave up potentially playing for the Giants to end up with the Cincinnati. Is it me or was that a big mistake?

I wonder about Cincy, because the QB they took in this past draft looks pretty good. I'm not sold that they would go in that direction.
Tuckrule +1

I will go even farther

I spent 10+ years rabbling about drafting OL early and often .

Now it's even worse than that . The
League has moved on and we have not the talent on D at all especially lbs and s fs

So, whereas we could use a RT and a center: Suck it up, start a more practical run scheme and;

draft defense early and often next spring..or until you can field a run game worth investing in

Maybe a big TE

Do the line spring 2021 and wrs as well.then.

Im calling BS

on thise QB prospects.

I don't see it. Herbert has some red flags and people are going to question whether or not he has improved for 2 straight years. Tua is a QB that's going to get a lot of 'mayfield' like comps-- youll either love him or hate him.

CHase young goes #1 and it isnt even close imo.

I looked at some of Wirfs tape and I wasnt overly impressed. He didnt have quick feet imo. How he tests athletically will be a huge factor.

also a big time warning
huygens20 : 10/22/2019 5:10 pm : link
to those guys who are looking at OTs.

You draft OTs to pass block.

eg.
Greg Robinson
Ereck Flowers

vs

Laremy Tunsil
Taylor Lewan

whats the difference?

robinson/flowers were huge titans known for run blocking and strength. Lewan and Stanley were elite athletes known for pass block

what you are in college is what you are in the pros usually.

Wirf doesnt do it for me.
