like they screw up just about everything else. Then we'll get to watch him lead the phillies to leapfrog us while we let Wheeler go because we can't afford him within our "budget".
Difference is those guys are extensions of well run organizations with strong and proven philosophies. Hiring a first time manager here they become an extension of the Mets organizational philosophy, which is dysfunction.
over the Philly job in a heartbeat. He has said time and again New York is where he wants to be.
That being said, I don't think Girardi fits well into what the Mets want as a manager. BVW will dictate managerial moves and I am not sure Girardi will adapt. There are a number of first time managerial candidates to choose from.

How hard is it to coach the freakin Yankees, tons of talent, a DH and bottomless money. ( I say this while realizing I will get roasted over it)
I can understand Girardi not being the fit since the theme of a relaxed open clubhouse seems to be whats working, Girardi might interrupt that dynamic with his more military esque presence.
I'm kind of feeling better about Beltran as the guy.
I almost wonder if he always has been the guy since the 1st interview.
Also has their been anymore noise from Allan Baird interest with Boston?

If you think Girardi is too much of a military-like presence, you definitely don't want Buck Showalter! Girardi is a long-haired hippy freak compared to Buck.
because he's too threatening for Jeffy boy to handle as made evident by the "team is concerned about Buck's past relationships with management" headlines any time his name was brought up in the search.
The Mets should have already hired Joe Girardi, but the fact they haven't even talked to a manager on the level of Showalter is negligent.
you can get away with a Boone in AL, especially when you have a totally stacked pen like Yankees.
But even then, Boone made questionable decisions. Start Chad Greene in an elimination game and try to win with relievers going 9 innings instead of just starting Happ? How did that decision work out?
Torborg mild mannered. Couldnt enforce discipline followed by old school
Dallas Green . Then you go to master manipulator and strategist Bobby V. Followed by Willie who was beloved but utterly clueless with strategy because he never managed before.
Terry Collins. Mr Ra Ra. Old school with tons of experience Followed by cutting edge Mickey with no experience

Told Skip Schumaker and Mike Bell are the publicly known first-round candidates in #Mets process who are NOT getting a 2d interview. Bell still in play for the #Pirates

Ha! You know I was being sarcastic.
I think they are up to 6 or 7 second interviews. Seems ridiculous to me.
Thats basically ten bad managers in a row. Forgot about Cubbage
Bobby V was a good manager, he just wore out his welcome (as he always did).
I also had a problem with Bobby V's use of the bullpen. He would drive me insane with matching lefty/lefty or righty/righty. We would go innings where there were 3 or 4 pitchers being used. The problem with that was by the time we got to extra innings we were out of pitchers.

Keith Hernandez is laughable. How do you watch Met games
The team he took to the World Series probably had the worst OF that a team ever took to the series. No easy job - I dont remember the names, maybe someone can add them. I think collectively they didnt hit 25 home runs

Has there ever been a crappier starting OF in a WS game?
Actually, all three were league average or better. Agbayani's wRC+ of 127 would have compared to Conforto this year offensively. Also, Derek Bell was in the mix all year and he was ok. Also helps getting MVP caliber seasons from Piazza and Alfonzo.
he'll take it. If not he won't wait around if we're dragging our heels interviewing every managerial candidate in baseball and he'll take the philly job.
My guess is David Cone. I would hire Coney in a heartbeat.

I agree David Cone would be awesome.

You must have not seen many Mets games this year

Very interesting. Can't believe that MLB charges MiLB a ticket tax?!
Also - MLB would "ask" (aka, require) affiliates to move from A to AAA, then have to PAY $12 million to do so?!
Martino BS.

Darling would be though.
He is 60, but that may not deter the Mets

Mike Cubbage
Jeff Torborg
Dallas Green
Bobby Valentine
Art Howe
Willie Randolph
Jerry Manuel

I'll tell you who I was impressed with....Tony DeFrancesco, the manager at Syracuse. Guy's had success at AAA in the PCL too.
He sounds better than some of these other names

Clear indication to me he's not making any decisions until after he has his second interview with the Mets.
Bogar is of no interest? I find him an intriguing choice.
