Unless Astros are willing to let Hinch go cheaply because they have Espada waiting in the wings, I would rather take Espada and not deal with the loss of any prospects. As is our farm system is poor and there is no manager that I would trade anybody for.

Girardi seems much more likely to wind up with Phillies. His interviews there are said to have gone great, and perception may be that he’d have more freedom in Philadelphia. Mets covering bases. No certainty he’d be their 1st choice.

Heard Joe Girardi had 2nd interview w/Mets yesterday. If they want him they’d likely have to act now as Phillies are ready to make call by end of week and all signs point to JG as Philly favorite. Phils like all 3 of their candidates but JG said to hit it off w/Middleton/Klentak

Girardi to Philly certainly looks likely, but let's keep in mind that Heyman is a hack whose only real source of information is agents. Certainly possible this is being leaked by Girardi's agent to pressure the Mets.
RE: If it’s not Girardi or Beltran at this point Â
Chaim Bloom. He was the runner-up to Brodie and the guy a lot of us wanted to get the job. Crazy to think that we could’ve had Bloom and Girardi running things.
You know he wants to. In my opinion, it seems the whole process is about figuring out which of these candidates is the biggest puppet for him and Jeff. So why not just do it yourself then and get it over with already.
I didn't/don't put Girardi on a pedestal but compare how the Mets search has gone to the Phillies - whose 3 finalists were Girardi, Dusty, and Buck - and it's easy to see which team is trying to win right away and which team has a continually dysfunctional front office. Imagine that? 3 finalists who are among the winningest managers in recent history. What a novel concept.
The fact that the Mets still haven't made a decision and dragged this on as long as they is almost as much of a joke as the fact that they kept Callaway in the first place after he cursed out Tim Healy. I hate this team with the heat of 1000 suns.
and an unproven manager to create an immediately speculative environment of dysfunction. We can write the headlines now for the first 5 game losing streak:
"Time for the Mets to fire _______ and SHOWalter they mean business!"

Mets SS prospect Andres Gimenez enters the final night of AFL regular season with a chance to win the batting title (.358, chasing .361) and have the best OPS (.970, chasing 1.017).
RE: This would be such a Mets move - hire a proven manager as bench coach Â

We just don't know who to fire yet. Buck Showalter could ease the risk of Mets’ high-wire manager search - ( New Window )
My theory is the Mets approached Beltran to be there bench coach which is why Girardi/Showalter were not a fit because they would want control picking their staff. Shocker right?
My assumption its Bogar which would explain why this is feeling drawn out but its designed to, to protect Bogar's relationship with Washtington through the series.
I have a feeling Bogar/Beltran will come in here and not much changes after that.
across this Fangraphs interview with Derek Shelton on his managerial philosophy. It's somewhat interesting. I think he's still in the running for the job.. Link - ( New Window )

How about if that guy is David Cone?

Hearing that Tim Bogar interviewed very well and is a strong contender for Mets job.
