NGT: Schefter thinks Brady is "setting up" to leave Pats

kelsto811 : 10/22/2019 12:26 pm
Quote:
“Let’s boil this down to the basic facts once again,” Schefter said during the ESPN pregame show. “Let’s look at some simple things: Has he put his home for sale? Yes. Has his trainer put his home for sale? Yes. Has he set up his contract to void after this season to become a free agent? Yes. So if he’s selling his home and his trainer is selling his home and he’s voiding his contract? What does that tell you? He’s setting up to move on."

What do you guys think?

Let’s go get Belichick then.
Imagine if he went to the Colts, Pats fans heads would explode.

They have a system there that would set him up for great success, great oline, nice stable of backs, and TY Hilton. His arm isn't what it used to be, but he'll kill it in that situation. Maybe he wants to prove he can win away from Bill.

nothing invested in the QB position, and will have plenty of cap space. With a coach and a QB, they can easily rebuild that team through the draft and free agency.

because nothing from NE translates to other teams players or coaches.

Maybe he just plans to retire after the season.

Probably not happening with the season Brisset it having. Wonder if he is just ready to walk away after this season.
I doubt he plays for another team

For the first time ever people are hinting that Brady is just there at this point. He isn’t the main reason they are winning games. He’s playing average football at best and he doesn’t want to be the guy who the team got him a ring ala peytons second. His play has dropped significantly imo

I still think he wants to finish his career out here. Where it all started. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

I think it’s way more likely that he retires than play for another team.

I know it's been garbage time, but Belichick has been sure to get Stidham time in the 4th quarter to play and be sure that he gets reps. I thought that Brady and Belichick were going to leave at the same time, but I could see a little bit of a power play by Little Bill to try to win without Brady at least for one season. Remember, he went 11-5 with Matt Cassel for basically a full season. I wouldn't be surprised if Brady walked away after this year.

All that said, I can't wait for Brady and Belichick to leave and you watch the "fans" revert back to the time before Parcells took over in 1992 when they were the 4th team in Boston and no one gave a shit about them.
Schefter confirms my theory...

Matt, while I agree about them pre Parcells, I don't think they'll ever be the 4th team in that market again. They're more popular than the Sox, something if you told me back in the mid '90s when I was a teenager I'd assume you were high & would ask for some weed.

I don’t think it will bottom out to the sad state of affairs pre Parcells; the almost 20 year dynasty spawned an entire global network of Pats fans; sure some front runners will go away but their run will leave fan engagement for the future. And as much as Kraft loves his happy endings in shady parlours, he’s a much more committed owner than the shit show he followed.

If he wants to win without Brady then he can win without Brady here with Daniel Jones. Problem solved.

but who really wants a 43 year old QB for 2020?

I know he grew up close to San Fran, and is a 9er fan, but they are getting very comfortable with JimG at the helm. And I don't see the other California teams - Charger and Rams - considering this idea for a second.

Oakland? I can't see Brady putting up with Gruden's act.

I really think many are underestimating how pleased the Colts are with the more athletic Brissett. I think he's pretty cemented as their future, especially if he ends up having the kind of year he is trending to...

Where is the demand?

I think most teams outside of maybe five would take Brady despite his age. You can’t underestimate his leadership and respect he has from teammates. But I highly doubt he would ever play for another team. He’s got his rings status money model wife and TB 12 to keep him busy. Why would he want to start over? I don’t think the lure of proving he can win without Bill and the Patriots way overcomes all those things.

Brady's retiring if he's leaving
DCGMan : 10/22/2019 3:24 pm : link
He's going to...

1 - uproot his family for a temporary home
2 - learn a new system
3 - leave a perennial Super Bowl contender
4 - leave the GOAT coach and top notch front office

to chase a title for 1-2 more years with a playoff caliber team? What's his motivation? Stick it to Bill?

The Pats won't push him out. A future All-Pro isn't backing him up or waiting for them to draft with the #1 pick.

I think BB wants that "most wins" record. Think he needs about 60+ wins to catch Shula??? Which would mean about 5 more years of the current production.....would he get there without TB12?

Never realized that or thought about it Billko. That is at least another 5 years I would think. Mmmm, if he likes Jones.....

I think he wins anywhere any anyway he sees fit. Average QB, he builds a dominant defense. Great Qb, he builds a great offense and good D. The man has made it a science that only he knows.

Almost every team in the NFL is pretty stable right now at QB, and, obviously, much younger.

I gave it more thought. I could possibly see Elway going back to the fountain of youth and trying to repeat Peyton 2.0.

I actually think Brady looks good playing on the field, but I sense the frustration with the makeshift OL. They seem to have finally reached some level of competency pass blocking. But they can't run block to save their lives right now.

And if they can't run, which they excelled at last year down the stretch, that puts more pressure on Brady to score points with his arm. And without Gronk, their receiving corp is a C at best. That's why the really wanted AB and were pissed that it didn't work out.

Brady knows he has a defense that is upper echelon. But if the Pats end up in a SB against the 9ers/Saints/Green Bay he's going to have to score. And it remains to be seen if the Pats can score enough against a quality D.

These will be good tests the next few weeks playing quality Ds like the Browns and the Ravens.
