Not the coverage but being in zone when everyone else was in man at this point of the season ?

Been saying this for weeks. I think the issue is Betcher. Too many players are confused back there. One play it is Baker. Another play it is someone else.
i thought at the beginning of the season it was odd playing a man corner in zone all the time. Kid was really good at Georgia . I think his confidence was shot. They really need to simplify this D.
I still come to BBI because it’s habit.
Crispino : 11/4/2019 11:48 pm : link
But I’m really done as a fan of this team for the foreseeable future. The roster hasn’t gotten any better in a decade, the coaching staff and front office are a mess, the majority of the players clearly don’t care. I lived through the really lean times with this team. We are there again. Time for somebody to fly a banner over the stadium again. Embarrass the owners into getting a credible football person to run the organization. The Maras and Tisches can’t do it.

They’ve lost me and countless others at this point. I used to live and die with every game, but not anymore. I look for excuses to find something better to do because the outcome of these games is a foregone conclusion.

I had season tickets for over thirty years, gave them up when they double dipped on the PSL’s, and now I don’t regret it one bit. Show us some semblance of caring and fire this coaching staff and some veterans like Jenkins, who cares less than I do. Do it tomorrow. Show some balls for once. I don’t want to hear “ We’ll assess the coaching situation after the season.”

Fire everyone, lose out and start the rebuild again with the number one or two pick. Please.
Shumar and DC suck
Big Daddy : 11/4/2019 11:48 pm : link

Unfortunately that may not be true! The Giants have a lot of company as a bereft team this year.

You forgot not brain dead!! Ah the fuck did they trade up for this guy

Bettcher is clearly invested in Baker; his college record and then having traded up.
Given that, his dilemma now that the season is lost is whether to let him play through his rookie faults (as Arcosi said "never give up on talent") or take him off the starting team (for Beal to see what he has there)?
Ballentine showed real promise.

This is full on panic mode. DG's OL (his hand picked hog mollies) and hand selected DL aren't getting it done (to be fair I would blame the LBs more, which are all from DG). At what point do we fire the GM? The HC is already a given after a 3 to 5 win season.

I can't let them turn into Eagles or Cowboy fans because their dad was so frustrated he didn't want to be excited about the Giants.
This team does everything wrong.
mittenedman : 11/5/2019 12:00 am : link
Offensively to throw Jones to the wolves vs. the Vikings, Patriots & again vs. the Cowboys D is unacceptable.

Defensively do they ever make a tackle without letting the ballcarrier go an extra 3/4/5 yards? It's maddening. When it's not a missed tackle, it's a blown coverage or a dumb penalty. A complete failure.

Even the special teams are breaking down with the kicking game a mess.
I just don’t see
lax counsel : 11/5/2019 12:02 am : link
How a cogent argument can be made that DG is doing a good job. I get that there wasn’t a lot of talent on the roster when he took over, but all he’s done is replace it with at best the same talent, but more realistically worse talent. That cannot be an excuse.

They still basically need an entire o line, wrs, and an entire defense. There is a large talent deficiency. I’m not even sure how you accurately judge Jones off this season. All said and done he’s doing a pretty decent job with what he has surrounding him.

I just don’t see how you give DG another year and allow him to spend all of this free agent money. He just hasn’t shown that he can accurately judge talent.
DeAndre Baker really not impressing
Dave in PA : 11/5/2019 12:02 am : link
Kid does not look like a first round talent so far. He makes big mistakes then starts celebrating and getting in Elliott’s face after shoving him OOB at the end of the guy, getting all cocky. Dude blew a massive assignment for a back breaking game ending TD to Cooper. Shit the fuck up and play better or hopefully get sat on the bench

Down 5, 3rd and 12 for Dallas. Giants have legit opportunity to get ball back done 1 score.

It was a place a lot of fans did not think could happen judging by the thread this afternoon about the game.

But a defense who continues to make ridiculous mistakes denied us the opportunity for an exciting ending.

Hard to understand how everyone but 1 player can be playing man while he plays zone.
You have to stick with DG
Vanzetti : 11/5/2019 12:03 am : link
I agree with much of the criticism but a new GM is a new rebuild. Let’s let DG finish what he started.

Last years draft is looking more average but this years is looking good.

Jones is s turnover machine. No team is winning with that. You just hope he gets better with ball security and learns to get rid of the ball when nothing is there. But the rest of his game is good.

So DG gets one more year at a minimum. Shuur should be fired. He is just not HC material

Agreed. Shurmur needs to be fired, and Gettleman gets one more chance to hire a proper head coach.

His ability to restock the team has been pretty good through the draft. I honestly think these second year struggles for his first class have more to do with the shit coaching than talent regressing to the mean.

Baker is a moron. Grabs Coopers jersey for no reason right in front of the ref. Had no effect on the play but they are going to call a pulled jersey. Then he is playing zone in man coverage,

He makes Eli Apple look like a genius

You assume a new GM would come in and pull a Gettleman and get rid of everyone. Not necessarily the case; a new GM would do a thorough evaluation and keep the players that can play. A new GM brings a new set of eyes and fresh perspective. The Giants need that.

I expected it to be A LOT worse. I think Garrett is the only thing holding this Cowboys team back and I keep hoping that they will extend his contract. There are two very talented teams in this division and two absolute horror shows. It's going to be a brutal, Sisyphean task to get back to the top of the NFC East.

even though we were terrible in the red zone and got jobbed by the refs on a couple of game-changing plays. I'm not worried about the ugly end-of-game collapse, but I am worried about the horribly inconsistent offensive play-calling and the crushing, too-frequent brain cramps on D.
When does this sham of an ownership say “Enough!”

The Cowboys and Eagles beat the hell out of us season after season!

The GM, coaches and most of these players must go.

They are horrible!

Jenkins the one armed whiffer
Solder and Remmers- The matadors
Bethea and those terrible angles
Ellison, Ogletree and Mayo

The list goes on and on!

dont think this defense is bad if he started the year with ballentine on the outside and love starting free safety. Let Baker play the slot. I think both those guys are smart based on their college play and would have made more plays than Haley and Bethea.

Bettchers scheme really needs top flight linebackers to work and Ogletree was an awful trade.

No faith in the offense at all. Engram never shows up big in games when it matters. Tate is old.

you think two rookies are the difference between being a bottom 5 defense and not?
I don’t know if it really changed anything at all
Bill L : 11/5/2019 12:43 am : link
but considering the game was close and decisions could have been made based on the score, you can’t miss an extra point. EspecIally with a struggling offense. And extra especially in two separate games with the scores very close.
The hardest thing for me to watch during this game
BlueLou'sBack : 11/5/2019 12:52 am : link
(ok aside from our defense in general, and Alec Ogletree in particular) is how utterly pedestrian Dallas looked. They are NOT a very good team really, and Prescott is not a very good QB. G-d I pray Jones pays Dak at a top 5 QB rate!

As for the Giants, I like the guys Gettleman has drafted pretty much. He hasn't done as well with his FA signings, obviously, but Markus Golden is IMO a keeper.

Jones will get there I think.

yes, Ballentine and Love will be good players. Compared to Haley who should be in the xfl and Bethea should have retired 5 years ago.

He'll not be a starter for long unless he does. Aside from some good mobility (which is largely offset by poor pocket awareness and absolute shit tier ball security) and accuracy I'm not sure I see much. He's slow at processing, has a horrible habit of standing still in the pocket patting the ball with no peripheral vision

But the ball security is killer. He's turning the ball over at an historic rate.

JFIB : 11/5/2019 10:09 am : link
He's throwing balls away when nothing is there. He's getting the ball out faster and under extreme pressure. The guy really has no time in the pocket. The INT last night was really just a hail mary with seconds waning and he's just taking a shot there. The fumble was worse but still forgivable and in my opinion not necessarily indicative of a major flaw that cannot be fixed. The strip sacks are the real concern and he has cleaned that up as of late.
