In 2 years he made Solder the highest paid LT, traded for Ogletree, signed Stewart and said he had years left, brought Eli back, signed Bethea, signed Curtis Riley, paid Odell then traded him leaving a huge dead cap. Theres no reason to trust him.
To top it off, the upcoming FA Class isn’t all that great.
Also, Outside of the Barkley pick because he was kind of a no brainer for them and outside of Jones, what has he done and who has he got to make us feel good about the future??? Hernandez?
A 3rd and a 4th, if they re-sign him.
One knock against Reese that was supposed to improve was the later round selections. Right off the bat, this move would eliminate a 3rd and 4th round pick. Lauletta was cut after a season, that's a 4th rounder. At this point, it seems they went from being disappointed with those picks to just figuring they'll bypass drafting them in the first place.
The rest of his moves I've agreed with(Odell) or were rather insignificant to the long term success of the team. His Drafts have been good though it's early to review them. A 4th for Ogletree was a decent gamble that hasn't paid dividends. Bethea has been a trainwreck but again it won't hurt much to move on from him. It's way too early to assess the LW trade until we know how it plays out.
An absolute nightmare scenario

when we already know that he wants to sign LEONARD WILLIAMS (along with giving up draft picks, including a 3rd rounder) with some of that money? Dude is fucking lost.

Lolz
How about actually a damn move right?
What move has he actually gotten right?
If L William's is smart, he will take half the deal Jets offer him during FA and signs back with the Jets

Signing OBJ before trading him caused huge cap hit and dead money, Ogletree big contract sucks, Omameh, Martin, stewart, pretty much ALL of his moves beside the draft have sucked!!! Oh yeah I forgot, we have the Hog Mollies, YAY!!!!!!
On and on we go... how fun.
“So, does anyone trust Gettleman?”
Last year's vaunted class is trending downward. This year's is mixed.
So far, I'm not convinced we're going to draft our way into a solid team any time soon.
FA has been a resounding bust. Defenders will say DG hasn't hamstrung the future with his contracts, so all the misses and meh don't really matter. It does matter, because we aren't getting anywhere toward turning the team into a competitive one.
Defenders will say they were only stopgap. Why get rid of the prior lousy players if you're just going to bring in new lousy players? You're spending resources to go nowhere. Most of the incoming has been intended to improve the team. Maybe only incrementally, but still improvement. That effort has, overall, been a huge failure.
I hope they don't go crazy in FA. Acquire FA in a rational fashion, but leave money in the bank so we can do the same the following year. Spending up to the cap only makes sense if you're getting value. If the value isn't there leave it for a future date so we can go after players you want.
Only half joking when I say it'd be better yet to leave most of it in the bank until the talent evaluators prove they can evaluate.
How have Lauletta, McIntosh, Beal, Love, Ballentine, C. Slayton, or George A-A played so far?
Even the "they've played well for the most part so far" thing is pure wishful thinking because a lot of them have barely played at all.
The sooner we acknowledge that the best quality Gettleman has displayed so far is simply that he is not Reese, the sooner we can actually pay attention to whether he's doing a good job on his own merit or not.
Spoiler alert: he's not.
