All game dbs on both sides were hand fighting and playing physical no flags. Giants get a stop on 3rd down, down 5 points and about to have great field position but the official finall decides to throw a flag..
Will not reverse a blatant pass interference nut will throw a flag on a questionable pass interference at best..
NFL officials have to much power over a game, and they are the worst in sports and it is not even close..
They can throw a flag on every play to change a game, and i know i was an official..
Pee wee*
And, I would have challenged the second PI on Baker. Just to make a point, then go off at the press conference lol.......
no high school and college
they did decide shit, game is completely different if that official does not throw the flag
Challenge deflated team....killed momentum
Look at the replay system. It is supposed to exist to get bad calls right, but it has been increasingly inconsistently applied - and not just for the PI calls.
The PI calls are a travesty because what the league has done is put a rule in place to address incompetence in a playoff game, but it is a rule that isn't being followed and has made a mockery of the term egregious.
But it isn't just that. There are plays that are mandatory reviews that aren't always getting attention. all scoring plays and turnovers are supposedly reviewed, but I guess the league didn't care to take a second look at the last Jones fumble, or a couple of other plays during the year that were bad calls.
I'm to the point that replay should go. The way it is used today is a bigger problem than if it didn't exist at all. Now, it is just standardized bias.
Good teams win despite bad calls. Bad teams blame the officials.
Either would be more fair and more accurate than the ridiculous PI review process.

Bad calls get made every week in every game. Some of them do actually decide winners and losers. A bad PI call did not decide the outcome of the game.
Bad football teams lose. Good football teams find a way to: score in the red zone, make a stop, get a turnover, get off the field, kick extra points, convert third downs, etc etc to over singular bad calls

that drive would have never happened if they did not throw the bs flag..
go watch the lattiner incomplete down the sideline and the int, both times the dallas dbs grab the giants receiver because they were beat

I think the officials shouldn’t have called it especially since they didn’t call the Engram PI (which was borderline IMO and challenging it was stupid). But Baker has to be smarter. In that situation don’t give the official ANY reason to throw the flag.

I hate blaming the refs, but in this instance they changed the game. Dallas was always going to win this game because the giants could not stop their offense if they needed to.

Yes, they would have punted if not for that bad call. But the Giants had them in 3rd and long and their first round CB got confused about what coverage to play. Good teams overcome bad calls, which are going to happen.

and my point is bad calls happen all the time and affect games all the time. The officials didn't secretly decide it was time to ensure a Cowboys win.
Good teams play well enough to overcome it, and bad teams fold. We know what happened.
Why didn't New Orleans win last year? They couldn't overcome a bad call?
People need to stop with the horseshit that bad teams don't overcome bad calls and focus on the point that the bad calls are being made serially, without any attempt to improve the quality. And the league instituted a rule that isn't being followed, making the officiating even worse.

Two things can be true at once
2. Referees directly contributed to a 10-14 point swing in the matter of 5 minutes.
Seems to me it doesn't balance out. Wondering if there is an anti Giant bias with the NFL. If so, seems to be a long standing one. But nah, that’s crazy talk, right?
Good teams win despite bad calls. Bad teams blame the officials.
The refs blew a bunch of calls but Giants played bad, shitty football. They played like a 2-7 team.

Not 100% sure that Baker was supposed to be playing man on that play. There are many times when teams play man on one side of the field and a zone on the other. I think that Bethea is a as much the culprit on the Cooper TD as anybody.
It would be a great question for Shurmur today but for some reason I doubt the question will be asked.

Our league has a lot to address this offseason as consumer confidence continues to wane
How is that allowed?
It is like saying we all know a team won, but we aren't going to give them a victory. Let's move on to the next game....
Refs are human, and they are trying their best. Blown calls are part of the game. As Giants fans, we remember the ones that hurt our team most, but they occur on both sides.

I wonder if he has some unique information available to him or if he's just trying to sound smart.
I'm a far cry from giving up on football. It's my favorite sport of all. But the things I've started to hear this year are creepily reminiscent ("that's clearly pass-interference but I don't think they will overturn it") and the reaction I'm having to it is similar. It's really hurting my interest.
Obviously, the Giants having a bad team right now doesn't help, but it's just so hard to accept how the game is being officiated.
Not sure this will end well for me and the NFL.
