Carl Banks breaking things down with Joe and Evan

Chris684 : 11/5/2019 11:10 am
LB left coverage assignment on Jarwin in the flat to go after Dak running. Also singled out Jenkins BS on that play.

Also got on the WR for not contesting the Jones deep ball for the pick before the half. Did not track the ball well or make a play and had an opportunity to do so.

Sounds disgusted.
A lot of "stuff" going on
Chris684 : 11/5/2019 11:12 am : link
causing bad plays.

Seems like a lot of the same things week in and week out.
Totally agree
Pete in MD : 11/5/2019 11:14 am : link
on both. Ogletree effed-up and Jenkins gave up and Slayton was not looking for the ball at all. It wasn't the best throw but he didn't even try to make a play on the ball. It probably falls to the ground if he goes up for it with the safety.

Slayton also appeared to be held on that route, and it was something I noticed before the Cowpukes even picked the ball off.
Not sure Slayton had any chance.
George from PA : 11/5/2019 11:17 am : link
Should not have thrown to middle of.field....maybe to sideline.

Did he explain how the seas were parted on EE runs....you could land a plane
Jones put that ball in the correct spot
arniefez : 11/5/2019 11:19 am : link
Slaton had a brutal game game yesterday. If he sees and goes after that ball it's more than a 50/50 against that DB. Ogletree is a nightmare you never wake up from.
Jones
AcidTest : 11/5/2019 11:19 am : link
was responsible for the INT. The decision and pass were very poor. He looked desperate to try and make something happen on offense. We weren't moving the ball. But that's when mistakes happen.

Yup, saw that too. Seems the officials weren't giving us many breaks last night.

Missed calls off the top of my head:
Helmet to helmet against Jones early in the game
Holding of Slayton on the pick, not called
Def PI on Engram, not called
PI against Baker that was BS.

Three of which are potential game changing calls.
Bad shit happens

To shitty teams.

All the time.

Depend upon it.
Great quote from Carl re: pass interference
Chris684 : 11/5/2019 11:22 am : link
"Why would the league thumb its nose at its own processes?"

Just a total disaster for the league.
Bc the only process that mattered
NoPeanutz : 11/5/2019 11:25 am : link
was to get the NO fans to STFU. It worked, and the refs didn't actually have to change anything about the way they work. Win-win.
Slayton may have been held
allstarjim : 11/5/2019 11:28 am : link
But he was let go and then gave up on the play. He pulled up and didn't compete. If I was HC, he wouldn't have played another down last night after that.

It was completely unacceptable. It's becoming increasingly clear that the Giants are missing another weapon at receiver in the pass game. I want a lock-down LT more than anything, but an actual threat like Jerry Jeudy on the field would go a long way into helping this offense.

why would he be desperate though? we had the lead at that time. just stupid if true.

have to agree on Slayton. It may still have been an INT but he gave up and didnt compete. I have seen this from him on a number of occasions in different games. It could just be rookie mistakes but I dont like seeing that. Its kind of an awareness thing and I think its a hard thing to teach.
He was held
Pete in MD : 11/5/2019 11:37 am : link
somewhat but still had a shot at the ball if he was looking for it. He was running a fly route with his head down. I suppose he wasn't the primary receiver on the play but you still have to pay attention.
actually if Slayton hadn't been grabbed
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 11/5/2019 11:41 am : link
I think the ball and he would have been in the same place. Getting grabbed threw him off his route. He still should have located and fought for the ball. Rookies
that pick was on jones and shurmur
GiantsFan84 : 11/5/2019 11:43 am : link
it was a dumb play call. it wasn't the time or place for that. you had the lead and were getting the ball. it was 3rd and 10. the only acceptable play calls were a run or a screen

so the play call was on Pat but Jones needs to know better too
Every single week there are X's and O's
ryanmkeane : 11/5/2019 11:46 am : link
excuses for this team but the bottom line is the coaching sucks and the players suck. Everything else is just noise
Yes the WR was lost on that INT
KWALL2 : 11/5/2019 11:55 am : link
Jenkins played it like a Matador.

That backup TE for the Cowboys has some wheels.

You're not wrong but I'll cut Jones some slack he's 7 games in and getting the hell beat out of him every week. Shurmur is what he is one of the worst head coaches in the history of the NFL.
Did he say what "players on scholarship"
micky : 11/5/2019 12:12 pm : link
And so forth..yadda yadda yadda
Slayton isn't very physical and doesn't make contested catches
Zeke's Alibi : 11/5/2019 12:15 pm : link
He is good at going up and high pointing the ball which is probably why DJ threw it to begin with. He needs to show some fight to be a legit NFL WR and he definetly has the potential.

Allstar- it drove me fucking nuts when he did that. I too would have benched him for a few series to send a message.
Slayton is a 5th round pick rookie
David B. : 11/5/2019 12:55 pm : link
Like DJ, he's gonna be making rookie mistakes, too.

^^^^THIS^^^^^
Slayton has to turn his head around at some point in that

route before the final 4-5 yards. That wasn't an awful throw or even an awful decision. People are confusing the outcome with the decision.

Rookie mistakes are fine. Lack of effort should never be tolerated, not for rookies or anyone.
Sounds like
