An MRI of Giants’ TE Evan Engram’s foot injury is being sent to noted Dr. Robert Anderson for a second opinion, per source. Giants’ HC Pat Shurmur called it “little bit of a sore foot” yesterday, and for now, Engram’s status is uncertain.
So

we've gone from five to possibly only two tight ends.

Such a tough decision when it comes to EE’d future with the team
nyjuggernaut2 : 11/6/2019 11:28 am : link
he’s flashed playmaking ability at times, but is also inconsistent. Not sure if that’s due to schemes and him not getting the ball as much because of it, or just that’s just who he is. And he’s also injury prone, which makes me wonder if it’s worth extending him.
A smart coach would get a lot out of him
arniefez : 11/6/2019 11:30 am : link
the Giants do not have smart coach.
Maybe split
Bleedin Blue : 11/6/2019 11:31 am : link
him out ? He’s not the greatest blocker, so split him out and less wear and tear on his body. He is a big target

He has to be on the field for anyone to get 'a lot' out of him.

He missed 5 games last year. He's missed time this year and is hurt again. It's becoming an issue.

Didn't he have the best game of his career in Week 1 this season?

Shurmur sucks but he's not really holding Engram back as much as the injuries are. The production hasn't been bad when he has played.
I thought it would have been smart to deal him at the deadline
Chris684 : 11/6/2019 11:34 am : link
He's a talented, oft injured, inconsistent player that there was still a solid market for.

I would have cashed out on him.

Look at Eric Ebron's game logs. Same thing. Nature of the beast.

The last 2 years he's had knee injuries that had zero to do with being an inline TE and everything to do with being a receiver. So, that isn't a solution.
Let him rest.

Ha ha, right...
The Cowboys D
mittenedman : 11/6/2019 11:51 am : link
beat the bag out of him.

Very jealous of the D they've been able to put on the field. They didn't even have Vander Esch playing and they destroyed us. Must be nice.
Makes me wonder
JerryNicklebag : 11/6/2019 11:54 am : link
Why they "weren't listening" to offers on Engram at the deadline.

If someone was offering anything significant, they should have at least entertained the offer or explored how much they really wanted him.

Could be that they are just publicly stating that he was off the table to avoid any problems.
this is why they should have traded him when the team called
GiantsFan84 : 11/6/2019 11:54 am : link
he cannot stay healthy. and i've said this many times on here you don't get more healthy as you get older.
Coach Killer
rocco8112 : 11/6/2019 11:56 am : link
has real receiving and run after the catch talent. It's a tease though in that he nay hurt the team overall in the long term due to his pillow soft blocking, disappearance in the red zone and fragile health.

They're very far ahead of us. It's depressing.

Every time we play them, you can just 'feel' the difference. It's like they're toying with the Giants and have zero doubt that they'll win.

Even at 12-3... you just knew the score wasn't the product of the Giants defense. It was just Dallas stumbling out of the gates a bit and taking some time to stabilize. It was only a matter of time until they took the lead and never looked back.

They completely control the game every time we play them. They're more talented, they execute better, and they're better coached.

Watching the Giants against the Cowboys knowing we're just completely fucking outclassed is miserable and infuriating.

Ironically enough, our notorious weak links are the backbone of their team.

OL and LB

Not bad having a Sean Lee to step in for LVE
The best ability is availability.

his contract up?
.
GiantEgo : 11/6/2019 12:20 pm : link
The have to decide after the season wether to pick up the option year on his contract.
We all know he will end up on Pats or Saints and become a superstar..
We extended him at the end of 2017 unfortunately.
Britt in VA : 11/6/2019 12:23 pm : link
He's under contract with us until 2022.
Should have traded him

Happens to every team.....committment starts to wain...

This is when you see the guys with pride: Golden Tate for one.....and the ones without.....Jenkins????

And the injuries...
Engram
AcidTest : 11/6/2019 12:35 pm : link
has never been extended. He's still on his rookie contract. He's a FA in 2021. The Giants will have to decide next spring whether to pick up his fifth year option. They apparently declined to trade him this year, although we obviously don't know what was offered.
He is one of those players
Vanzetti : 11/6/2019 12:39 pm : link
Who has individual talent, but not so sure he makes the team that much better because of his poor blocking and frequent injuries

The problem with a “unique” talent is that you design plays to take advantage of his special skills and then he goes down and that part of the playbook goes out the window
Anyone saying...
Chris in Philly : 11/6/2019 12:41 pm : link
they were stupid not to trade him without knowing what was being offered can safely be ignored going forward...

So sick of his shitty play, I can't wait until we get an actual TE. He absolutely hamstrings us when he's on the field.
plays soft?
bc4life : 11/6/2019 1:00 pm : link
what game were you watching - he took Demarcus Lawrence had on a block and although Lawrence slipped off it eventually, block was absolutely physical.

Does seem to get dinged up quaite a bit though, and the inconsistent hands.

He's more a big wr than TE.
I know I've been banging the trade EE drum.
Diver_Down : 11/6/2019 1:00 pm : link
Maybe DG will get an offer this spring. We can't be committing to him. Deadline to elect the 5th year option is in May. It will guarantee $8.4M. It's fine to accept his production on a rookie contract. But we can't be making a commitment to a player that is one dimensional and not very good at that.

ColHowPepper : 11/6/2019 1:02 pm : link
He's a TE 'in name only'

Abysmal blocker, his guy crashes the line from wherever he lines up

The issues and futility just keep crescendoing, the distance between NYG and capable teams just keeps growing
We can see how this movie ends
BigBlueinChicago : 11/6/2019 1:02 pm : link
They won't be able to trade him because teams are going to point to his injury history and not make a significant offer.

He will be on the team in 2020 and either get injured at some point or not be "utilized" correctly.

The season will end and the Giants will not offer him a contract and will leave in Free Agency.

Wait til you guys see Rhett Ellison

Engram..
