His point is completely valid - the system is built for parity, built to keep good teams from being consistently good, and bad teams from being consistently bad.
And yet both of these teams have found a way to beat the system in a very bad way.
People need to stop buying into that. The NFL is no longer a year-to-year league.
Absolutely, it's not like the Rams were awful and then in the SB a few years later, or that Philly didn't manage to turn things around quickly after Kelly left and win a SB.
Last year the following teams made the playoffs along with how many times they've made the playoffs the past 10 years:
AFC:
Chiefs 6/10 3 losing seasons
Patriots 10/10
Texans 5/10 3 losing seasons
Ravens 5/10 1 losing season
Chargers 4/10 3 losing seasons
Colts 6/10 2 losing seasons
NFC:
Saints 6/10 4 losing seasons (all 7-9)
Rams 2/10 10 straight seasons of losing football before '17
Bears 2/10 4 losing seasons
Cowboys 4/10 2 losing seasons
Seahawks 7/10 2 losing season (1 of which they made the playoffs)
Eagles 5/10 3 losing seasons
It seems to me fewer and fewer different teams are making the playoffs than ever before. The Rams are the outlier in terms of being absolutely garbage and then all of sudden being good.
I think the league cycles good/bad teams more often than they would ever admit.

so your point is, some teams are run well and some are run horribly...like the giants.

Nope, no parity at all.
Yeah, glad you agree. Parity is pretty much a myth evidenced by the most ridiculously amazing dynasty ever coinciding with the new NFL world order and the same 3-4 teams in each conference winning 9-10-11 games every year. The league has changed dramatically but teams have figured out how to remain competitive, especially the last 5-6-7 years or so. Teams have gotten wise. Get a good coach and keep him. Same with the qb.
I would argue that most NFL teams go through sustained
levels of success and disappointment, rather than a constant change. The league is not year-to-year. For the most part, teams have a developed a pattern of success or failure over a 10 year span.
Here some of the current worst teams:
Browns 0/10 10 straight losing seasons
Redskins 2/10 7 losing seasons
Jaguars 1/10 8 losing seasons
Raiders 1/10 9 losing seasons
Dolphins 1/10 8 losing seasons
Titans 1/10 5 losing seasons
And yet both of these teams have found a way to beat the system in a very bad way.
when was that?
I dont know what he is referencing
