Pat Shurmur Questions.

TyreeHelmet : 11/7/2019 9:17 am
All of this talk about it he should stay or go. I have questions.

1) Do you really think you can’t find a better head coach than him?

2) If they actually put together a good roster, do you really want to trust a good team to him?

But we should keep him because of continuity, Jones progress and “you shouldn’t fire a coach after 2 years” ?

Hasn’t he been shown enough to prove he’s an ineffective coach? If he was available this offseason, would he even get an interview for a HC opening?
A lot of people here seem to be convinced

Of your last pt.

Me, I m not confident making that assessment about him, I do believe in continuity and patience, I m also aware that he s not coaching a very good team.

This is not an endorsement of him, but more a hoping he grows into the job.
There are 6 coaches in the history of the NFL

that have coached more than 50 games and have a lower percentage than Shurmur. He's a perfect Mara coach. I say give him at least 2 more years.
I'll play

Answer - Yes, anyone but him

2) If they actually put together a good roster, do you really want to trust a good team to him?

Answer - No, I do not, he doesnt know what the fuck he's doing, its all differnt players and it looks exactly the same, he sucks.

I agree with this. the big issue with dumping him now is that he will be the 3rd coach fired for coaching a team with no talent. Coughlin was fired after going 7-9, 6-10 & 6-10. many agree that it was time to go, he was making bad decisions. So all of the sudden he became a bad coach??? He had no talent to work with and when you have no talent everything looks bad.

Judging Shurmur on his record alone is just not fair, look at the records before he was there, the teams were bad before and after he was there. the Giants were bad before he got here, we tore it down and are now building it back up. The guy deserves a 3rd year imo just to see what he can do when he has a better team to work with. i believe we will have better talent year 3 because we have real cap space and it will be the 3rd year of DGs drafts which seem solid right now.

What great coach will want to come here after seeing the disaster it has been for the past 6 years? You are going to have to gamble on a young up and comer. I just think you have to give 3 years to see if better players allow him to be a better coach.
Here's another question

Can anyone here picture Pat Shurmer tearing his players a new asshole? The way Parcells or Coughlin would have?

This team makes the same mistakes week in and week out. Some of it is lack of talent (and rookie inexperience), but some of it is not. A lot of it is mental mistakes.

A disciplinarian coach makes his player afraid to make those mistakes. A disciplinarian coach keeps his players on their toes and enforces consequences for screw-ups.

Anyone think these players are afraid of Shurmer?

Think any of these players hate him (the way they hated Parcells and Coughlin)?

Anyone think these guys are running gassers in practice for bad game play?

At this point, Jones should be FORCED to carry a ball with him everywhere -- to meeting, to meals, EVERYWHERE and the other players should all be told that anyone who knocks it out of his hands gets $500. Jones should be doing those drills after practice where he drops back holds the ball with two hands close to the 8 on his shirt, and guys swat at the ball. Oh wait, the Giants don't have a QB coach . . . for a rookie QB. Doesn't matter. Any idiot can swat at the ball, and Jones should be doing this drill the way you park a WR with stone hands in front of the juggs machine until he learns.
