Honestly, between that and Chik-fil-A, I liked the Wendy's spicy chicken better despite the amount of hype heaped on the other two. Both were still very good, though.
My buddy had the Popeyes sandwich last week and that was the exact list I asked him to rank. Wendy’s is better than Chick Fil A in my opinion but both are good. Haven’t had Popeyes yet.
FWIW he ranked Popeye’s number one easily.
The Popeye's sandwich had that Uncanny Valley of food feeling Â
Don’t fuck around,Get the Spicy chicken one. I think it beats Chick-Fil’A in numerous categories, much better bun, much better breading, better seasoning, better overall flavor and textures going on. Chock Fila wins on chicken quality, but that’s it.
I can't believe people are waiting in line for 30 mins to an hour for them, though. Pro tip - do what I did and order online through the Popeye's website. I waited maybe 5 mins for mine.
I like Chick-Fil-A a little better. Too much breading on the Popeye's sandwich.
It was OK. Pretty thick piece of chicken and different from other fast food chicken sandwiches.
So, funny story. There is a Popeyes close to where I work here on Long Island, figured I would go in at 10:30AM to beat the lunch rush. Get there and there is only one person in front of me, score!
This is where it gets interesting, the line behind me starts to build up and there is only one cashier. While I am waiting on my food, the Gentleman behind me orders 3 Spicy Chicken sandwiches. Simple enough, women rings him up and he says can you please put 3 Sweet Heat sauces in the bag. Cashier says, that will be .75 cents more. Unsure if this guy was having a bad day, but he flipped out. Starts screaming at the cashier, cursing, wanting to speak to a manager. I mean to the point he was berating the cashier so much that she had to walk away. Keep in mind, the line behind him was building up and only one cashier. The guy keeps going on and on about calling the CEO of Popeyes.
The Popeyes folks immediately opened a few more lines and tried their best to calm the guy down. I saw the news about what happened in Maryland and was glad to get my food and get the hell out of there.
What is it about these fucking sandwiches that are causing people to lose their fucking minds? I mean it is 10:30AM on Thursday afternoon.
It's a chicken sandwich, no more no less. I do not understand the hype around all this. The only reason I had one was my coworker grabbed it for me on his lunch break.
Kudos to Popeyes for their marketing on this product.

People aren't just waiting in line for 30 minutes. People are killing people over this stupid sandwich. In my home town of Oxon Hill, MD a man was killed on Monday night over these stupid Sandwich's.
It's good, but I can't justify waiting over half an hour for it. I've had it once, I enjoyed it, and once the hype dies down and I can get one in 5-10 minutes, I'll go back I'm sure.
But, people are getting stabbed over these sandwiches and people are trying to upsell them to people waiting on long lines @ an inflated price. It's fucking madness... it's a sandwich!
I remember one year, someone randomly shot and killed someone on the street a few minutes after midnight on New Year's Eve so he would have the first killing of the year.
but tomorrow me and a couple of the fellas in a branch office, were gonna get a few of the Popeyes and the Chick-Fila chicken sammiches and have a little blind taste test on a slow Friday.

Someone was stabbed and killed for the Popeye's chicken sandwich the other day (some dude who supposedly cut in line).
and dont feel the need to rush out for it. They are adding it to their menu full time.
I prefer the chicken sandwich from Shake Shack followed by Chick-Fil-A. I haven't had Wendy's in a long time and will now add Fuku to the memory bank next time I am at MSG
where it is processed to the extent where it feels fake, sort of like a Costco rotisserie chicken. It's good, but it's almost "not" chicken.
The Popeye's sandwich was brined with a chemical concoction that made the meat taste moist, but almost rubbery.
What chemicals is it brined it?
Hard to say since they don't publish a list of ingredients, but it's known they use a sodium phosphate brine and MSG. I brine a lot of meat, and I don't get the same texture and flavor from it, so I get the impression there must be some sort of artificial flavoring at play there.

Ate at Wendy's about a year ago - a breakfast sandwich - and found it mediocre, and simply poor compared to any similar breakfast I make at home.
Now I get fast food has a use, when it's you know actually fast!
But if you have to wait 30 minutes for ANY product served at a fast food joint, it's not close to a reasonable transaction for the crap you will be served.

Wendy's doesn't have breakfast so try that again. They're finally starting it next year though.

Lol. You're just full of shit.
Riiiiiiight. Here's some reading, but I'm pretty sure you won't understand it.
You can pay for crap like that, or buy sausages from a reputable old school producer like Schaller & Weber. Their Bratwurst ingredients: PORK, WATER, VEAL, SALT, SODIUM LACTATE, MILK, SPICES, FLAVORINGS, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, DEXTROSE, SODIUM DIACETATE, CITRIC ACID.
A bit more direct and simpler, and important to me personally, no msg.
High levels of msg in some foods have given me bad headaches at times.
i like chick fila for convenience, quality, and if you have to sit down the service is top notch. Maybe I'm too easy to please, but unless I had a bad chicken sandwich I don't think about rankings between places. I will say one place I never see pop up on these threads (likely due to it being nowhere near most of this board), Royal Farms. They're pretty good and inexpensive. It's also much larger than chick fila's
But wasn't fond of it. Didn't like the pickles in it and they did something strange to what was supposed to be spicy chicken. Some sort of sauce? I don't know. Tasted overall kind of flat and uninteresting. But glad I tried one. Tried earlier twice when it first came out, but the lines were out into the parking lot, service is usually slow anyway, and word was they were out of it on both tries. Gave up when everyone was told it would be a while before they'd offer it again. Finally was given inside info on another visit as to when they'd have them again and when to come. Did. Worked. Hope it's huge for them. I like Popeye's.
Reading about some guy getting stabbed over the sandwich, though, was incomprehensible. Sends the wrong message. Going back to my regular: two-piece spicy upgrading to two breasts with slaw (or the fries sometimes) and a huge Coke. Love that.
Friends and family of the victim say he was not stabbed over a chicken sandwich. Though it did happen at Popeyes, no one bothered to check on the details and a game of telephone ensues.
Unless of course there has been another person stabbed at popeyes.
Tons of people are murdered at McDonalds every year, no one tries to claim it's over the McRib.

I tried Popeye's sandwich right before it became "a thing" Â
Not bad but certainly not amazing either. It's...fine?
I'll say that for my fast food dollar, the Chick'n Shack sandwich at Shake Shack leaves Popeye's and Chik-Fil-A (which I will never patronize again) in the dust by miles.
FWIW he ranked Popeye’s number one easily.

Heaven forbid you actually want to go to Popeyes just for regular chicken now.
I like Chick-Fil-A a little better. Too much breading on the Popeye's sandwich.

Geez.. No chemicals! They should have used table salt instead.

What is happening in our society that fast food is worth dying over???????
While I really enjoy Popeye's chicken.....it is still a fast food restaurant.

People kill each other over hats, shoes, aggressive driving...a fast food chicken sandwich is at least as good of a reason I suppose.
Nah jk never tried it, presume its overhyped and can't beat Wendy's spicy chicken.

With extra ketchup.
Fries were very good as well.

Try again, how about you try again genius.
Wendy's in Folsom, California, most definitely has breakfast combos on the menu and you can see them online. If you bother to check, or to actually walk in after 10 AM.

And their cajun rice and biscuits were the best thing on any fast food menu.
